Why can't people just go out, ride their bikes and have fun?

Is the state encroaching on people's lives or do they just think it is?

Er, yes indeed. The stazi are indeed encroaching on peoples lives, and as a useful by-product of this, fostering paranoi and fear.

If you are a law abiding citizen, then sorry, you are now a criminal, or, you will be very shortly - there you go, you are now.

The latest incumbents of the oppresive regimen known as "Goverment" have introduced more laws during their time in office, than previously had been cast into law.

Ever.

You are probably breaking a law somewhere, somehow right now, drinking, smoking, using your phone or the internet, stand assured, you are being monitored for your infringements.

The bill will be in the post......

I don't think so.  You are the one with 5 kids.

Since when has asking a question been proof of mental illness?

I'm sure the majority are quite happy to be sheep following their particular herd but I feel that you are in danger of tearing yourselves apart.

Just my view from the 'outside'.

Absolutely it is, the evidence is all around us, it's just that about 99.9% of the population is apathetic to it, and this is before I get staretd on how the TRF is unjustly discriminated against.  Oh, you want some exmaple?  Use the search engine of your choice to find out more:

RIPA
Biometric ID cards
ContactPoint
DNA Database
Medical Records Database
Erosion of Police accountability
ACPO non-accountability and grey status yet makes Policy for UK Police

I could go on.  The current Govt. really are the new Nazis.

Grrr - it's still early and I missed one of the biggest off my list - the IMP!!!

Thing is I know he is right in probably 90% of it, but getting him to calm down from this subject is  a nightmare nono

Try and change the subject to patch work quilt making or something before he really goes off on one. hmm

"Is the TRF really driven by fear and paranoia?"

Hardly surprising Simmo!

Do you believe the "antis" are just a pigment of our imagination? If so, who were the bar stewards working behind the scenes to trick Parliament into putting s67 into the NERC Act?

Heard of Janet Street-Porter?

Ever read a GLEAM newsletter or heard of GLPG?

If so, I would be surprised if these stomach churning vindictive antis didn't make you fearful and paranoid for the long-term future of our wonderful hobby.

TBH, I don't think a thread of this nature is really very helpful on the public forum (not just my own view) but free speech and all of that cry

 Now that is paranoia!

----
Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (c. 23)
Provides for the interception of user logs and e-mails of suspected criminals by the security and intelligence services.
----

How does that affect law abiding citizens with clearly visible number plates?

----
ID cards - do you have a photo card driving license?  Not much difference.
----

----
ContactPoint provides a quick way for authorised practitioners in different services to find out who else is working with the same child or young person. This will make it easier for them to work as a team and deliver faster, more coordinated support.

ContactPoint is an online directory, available to authorised staff who need it to do their jobs. It is a tool to help improve the well-being of all children, keep them safe and ensure that no child slips through the net of support services. It is a key element of the Every Child Matters (ECM) programme, to transform children's services by supporting effective prevention and early intervention.
----

If you had a child with additional needs you would welcome the coordinated approach.  I am somewhat involved with the delivery of the ECM programme with DCC in my role as vice chairman of Parent Carers' Voice and also in my position sitting on Devon Children's Trust Partnership Council.

----
DNA  Database
----

Nobody complains about it when it is used to catch serial killers or other members of the criminal fraternity.

-----
Police
-----

When you look at the number of police versus total population they have a very difficult job.  They are only human, humans make mistakes.  Instead of bitching why don't you join the police?  I'm colour blind so I'm not allowed.

In a democracy Governments govern the population.  It is the way the world works.
I don't vote that doesn't mean I don't care.  Bob Dylan doesn't vote and he seems to have done alright for himself.

Being apolitical is a perfectly reasonable position to adopt.  I don't criticise because I am not partially responsible for it.

Let the world do it's thing and I'll do mine.  I bet you that when I die I'll stop breathing.  Life is not that complicated really.....

Whats this really all about, Is simmo barking up the wrong tree or at the moon, If you want to really get wound up look at the Criminal Justice (sorry Injustice) Act.  This is the one that took away, your right to silence, the right to be tried by jury, and the best bit of all the prosecutions right to deny evidence from court if it is UNFAIR to the prosecution.

Is the TRF driven by fear and paranoia only about as much as the rest of the honest law abiding citizens of the UK.

I don't bark up trees, I **** my leg and put the fire out.

Stealth riding, covering numberplates, small groups, codes of conduct not rules, "offical" TRF rides, "who cares",open forum, closed forum, capped membership etc.

Do we really have so much to fear or we just fearful of the potential of fear?

If that is the opinion of the silent majority you may delete the thread.

Who would have thought that the thought of free thinking on an open forum would instill so much fear and paranoia?

I think that maybe some of us with maybe a little too much available time to ponder on little things should find a hobby to run along side the TRF confuse

I take your point but I was unaware that time was needed to ponder, just a brain.
