The TUB OF LARD strikes again...

another good reason for electorial reform and get rid of these Lords !

Nothing political but I get a bit miffed when our senile citizens.. and some of them not so old.. start on about things they patentely obviously know nothing or very little about, and even skew the facts toward lies, let alone miss-truths!

Who reads The Guardian anyway???

What would be the Headline for the SUN... Scramblers and 4WD mudpluggers hit by Tub of Lard!

the mans a knob, im sure all to ride the lanes in the south west want too preserve them, yes some get rutted unfortunately , but they are normally rutted either side of our ruts with tractor ruts anyway, not against anyones right to use green lanes, but i do notice when the 4x4 lads have been up our lanes, they are very rough after and rocks all over the place, i am undecided however if this is a good or bad thing, as the narrow lanes and these 4x4 squeezeing up them, tends to widen them out abit again , ive been speaking to a friend who i do work for in devon / cornwall, who lives in derbyshire area and he tell me most of his lot are giving up green laneing as theres hardly anywhere to ride anymore and trying to link up the routes, they are spending 90% of the time on the road,i  think we are quite lucky down here at the moment, long may it carry on, kev

National did a good response, don't think it was published though. Yes, it's an ill-informed, bigoted (a word labour are now all too familair with), and one sided article written by a has-been politician. It isn't journalism but a rant from someone ignorant of the facts.

I love this quote

So it must now be opened up to Land Rovers and Harley-Davidsons.

Just another journalist without the facts or experiance, i would not waste your time commenting here. Harleys on green roads highly unlikely (dimwit).

Richard Simpson (National PR) did reply, although only published on the online section over the weekend.

Last Saturday morning, the Grindleford Gallop a charity event
organised by local schools came down Chertpit Lane. Six hundred
walkers and runners made their way south. Four motorcyclists rode north
against the tide. It is not hard to imagine what would have happened on a
road, in parts only 2m wide, if the news had got abroad that it was
open to every vehicle that wanted to race.

Firstly Tub of Lard rofl.gif

Whilst I do not condone the actions of the motorcyclist alledgedly using the route against the flow of runners I  quote.
"It is not hard to imagine what would have happened on a

open to every vehicle that wanted to race."

Just about somes up his lack of inteligence, because it IS A ROAD you nonce. It was reopened as such as stated in his "article"

Does every vehicle using the road RACE, I think not. It bigoted to assume that an motorcyclist using a road is therefore racing.

The event was marshalled at various points, apparently.

Really? Did they not think to put up signs or ask vehicles not to use the ROAD while the event was going on, surely the police and local council would have been informed as well because they are on a ROAD.

Bet they were not.

It may go without saying, but if you are planning a road walk or run you will also need to speak to the council and police to coordinate road closures on the day of the event. To avoid disappointment, you should do this as early as possible!

Hopefully next year when they organise the event they do it properly. smile

Re; "open to every vehicle that wanted to race."

Motor vehicle racing on the public highway is not permitted in England, not at all, never,no permits,no road closures for the purpose allowed.
The only places in the British Isles where it is still permitted are the Isle of Man and Southern Ireland.

Roy Hattersly has clearly been mislead by the Luddite anti-vehicle extremists and his article is farcical in the extreme.
Unfortunately there are ten times as many idiots reading the red top gutter press newspapers as there are intelligent people reading the intellectual broadsheets.
Since we live in a democracy we will continue to have to contend with this kind of stupidity.

Just read it - won't say what I think here....how can somone who obviously knows so little about a subject get away with putting an article like that in a national paper? - (and probably be paid for it as well).....

Man that harley is just bootyful (needs a bates light though) always wanted an XR750 but that looks even more fun! - I'm inspired now, off to get me a cheap sporty to hack up...

That OCC thing (like most of the overpriced/Hyped cack they produce) looks pants..
