Overlanding tyres.

Ok the summers on it's way and now it's time to start testing tires for our trip.

Were looking for a tyre that will allow us to go "off road" as well as give us good speed and comfort and good wear on the road.

obviously full knoblies are a no no, but suggestions (if deemed suitable) will be lane tested.

any suggestions where we should start?

From what I've read, the best overall Overland tyre is the Conti TKC80??

Five thousand, FIVE THOUSAND?

Less than 2000 on a KTM Adventure, much less than 2000 miles!

And they stop like you're on cobbles, bump bump bump stop.

Pretty good on the lanes tho', way better than the Pirelli Scorpions that it came with, until you hit some serious mud.

YMMV!

Used Continental TKC80's on my Transalp from Santander to Malaga to Roscoff and the rear was needing replacement probably by Bordeaux on the return leg. Very little motorway use throughout, just twisties.

Transalp not very powerful so put it down to the block pattern tread.

Front was fine, good tyre while it lasts though...

I put the TCK80's on as sugested and put them through their paces, Have to say it's a good dual purpose tyre, excellent on the road and no worries off road either this weekend.

The tread looks like it would cause vibes on the road but not so, excellent feel and grip especially in corners. Transformed the DRZ for sure.

Can't comment on wear but will keep you posted.

Thanks for the suggestions.
