KTM 525

I'm after a bit of advice.

I've been offered a 2004 road registered ktm sx525.

It's in very nice condition although possibly a little steep at £2500

whilst my sensible side says get yourself a nice steady eddie 250 four stroke my inner hooligan has already bought and ragged the orange furious

is it going to be too much for the lanes?

anybody got any personal experience of this missile?

ta muchly

Whitey

I rode a enduro 525 a bit in 2005 in Oz and it can be a handful.  The SX would be even more so I suspect.  Not really a green laning bike unless you are a competent rider.  Bit OTT, would be  a waste.

You'd have more fun on a 250  2 stroke.  Buy a cheaper bike and spend the spare money on good protective gear.

yeah, I figured it would be too much I've just got to ignore the hooligan behind my right ear that keeps on whispering.
Fortunately my sensible side usually wins.

£2500 a bit steep for a sx525 04 reg ? check the 05 reg had a single pipe not twin pipes into the silencer plus a lower seat ? sx hot cam check bike may have 6 speed box already ? plus sx may not have e/start ? plus poss 19in rear wheel ? mx silencer ? ,extra two gears can be fitted engine out cases need to be split ? 525 alot of motor very reliable and will last a long time in the lanes just roll on power roll off or the thing will turn into a saturn five rocket big fun or one way trip to A/E lol aww lost

I agree with kerry, if it is the sx version then it will be a real hand full in the lanes, very tiring trying to hang on !!

cheers everyone. looks like I may have found a DRZ400 that's coming available in the next couple of months for sensible money.
not as sexy as the KTM but much more sensible!
