Doesn't look that bad on the google earth overlay, but the comments about only suitable for trailriders is backed up by your video. One for the to do list (when I've had a bit more practise) I'm guessing nobody fancied tackling it today, done nowt but tip it down all last night and this morning.
I discovered it one ride at the end of my day out exploring when seeing a Y shaped lane I thought I would ride to the end and back. Not having noticed all the contour lines it crosses the steps came as someting of a surprise. Looking at the map at the bottom I realised that to go around would add several miles to my journey. I had already decided to ride just this one more lane then go straight home as I was tired so back up I went. One dab was crucial and stretched me to the limit but the sense of satisfaction had to compete with the sense of relief. Bear in mind that I was riding alone thirty miles from home and nobody knew where I was or would raise the alarm if I didn't return. Several years later DCC 'discovered' the lane and created a new Byway so I expect more people have had the pleasure since. I would think twice about including it on a run with people following though as it could easily ruin someones day/bike if things went wrong.
Could provide some good badger action for the camera though....I think I'll include it on sunday, possibly after a warmup on 202-442

LOL! I would imagine it'd be a badger epidemic on that one Pete!
If you're attempting this one towards then end of your ride on Sunday i'd expect a few casulties!

My memory of my first (solo) ascent of 442 involves sweat, pushing, pulling, leaving the bike halfway and walking first and then committing myself and going for it, and picking myself and the bike up after the top step after succeeding. I counted it as a success because although the bike was on it's side and I was lying next to it, I was uninjured and the bike was not broken. I do remember thinking 'Nobody will believe I did this for fun'.
Then I went back down again which was a lot scarier
I've scoured the overlays but 442 eludes me, can you say a couple more lanes numbers it's near so I can narrow my search, just planning for the future (a long way in the future methinks) But sounds like it must be worth a fly by at least.
442 is not on the Legal lanes overlay distributed to members
If you want the No Status Overlay you need to bring your TRF Membership Card along to the Dolphin Hotel Bovey Tracey on Saturday 29th at 11am and attend the TRF members only Rights Of Way workshop to be held that day when the TRF National Legal ROW expert Robin Hickin will be discussing such lanes.
Please let L'Orange or DHH know beforehand if you are planning to attend this event which will only take a couple of hours of your time and is free, but only open to paid up TRF members
