Should we watch out?

Surrey police have been issued with off road bikes.

This BBC article has more:-  ARTICLE

Three officers have secured funding in the Mole Valley for scramble bikes that will enable them to cover areas previously inaccessible.

What do they do if they want to travel around Bouchland? confuse

Mounted on Huskies - might have to join up again !!

Not sure about this paragraph though:

The officers will now be able to patrol byways, bridleways and some footpaths more effectively. nono

Didn't another police do this before? I think the result was trashed bikes and officers. Nice bikes tho!
p.s. is the RHS copper big or are those bikes small?

That seems like a set of flimsey excuses to get some "off-road motorbikes" to mebiggrin

I'm betting that when the six-month trial is over they get sold off. Plus a winter of trying to patrol on them will be enough for the coppers, they'll want their cars back..wink

Should we watch out? No, of course not. Provided we follow the TRF code and only ride fully legal and correctly insured bikes, on legal lanes and at sensible speeds that won't cause offence then we have nothing to fear. Indeed, we should welcome them as they'll hopefully drive-out the elements that give us a bad name.

Mind you, Husky to me = competition machine so I hope they're not going to cause ill feeling with unnecessary noise and speed particularly if they really will be riding bridleways and footpath.

Mind you it's good work if you can get it!

Cheers,

John
