Albion

Just thought I would post a little thanks to Kev Gary and Rich at Albion in Exeter. I can say that the service and support they have given me over last few weeks has been the best I could ever ask for. I've read small posts on here about them and I must say I was a little worried about going to them. (the power of keyboard Heros) but from the word go they have been great. I had my Husaberg looked at by them when I got that then when I moved over to the orange side they have looked after me even better. Kev listened to what I wanted the bike to be and made his suggestions that saved me money. (strange for a main dealer) they have made my crazy 450 sx a great green laner by sorting the shocks to perfection and they have serviced the bike to make it a totaly reliable bike. They fitted the best thing you could poss fit to a bike IMHO. A recluse clutch. Yeah not cheap but a great bit of kit and Kev set it up great. Real smooth. They fitted loads of other bits and bobs sold me all the kit without up selling to a total newbie. Anyways just saying thanks and I won't be going anywhere else to get a thing. I tryed all the other local bike places before Albion as this forum seems to take a bit of a dim view on them or so it seems. But I'm sure when needed you take full advantage of the 10% discount when needed. Lol anyways just hate reading bad stuff about good places. IMHO. See you on the lanes.

Not sure they got many negative comments did they?

Anyways, can't comment on the workshops as have never used them - but Richard upstairs is a top chap and is always very helpful, get all my parts from there and many other bit's N bobs. Normally have what I need in stock and if not then its there in a day or two - prices are good as well, compare stuff like GT 85 and 2T oil with other places and you will be suprised.....and you get 10%

No complaints here!

Only good reports about Albion from me too. Bought 2 bikes from Steve in the last 3 years and couldn't ask for better service. Richard upstairs and the back room boys also do a great job. I guess Gary must do something. Only joking Gary!

Hope that didn't sound to bum licky just nice to get a main dealer who. Doesnt mug you off at every chance. Been to the other local shops and tbh they just seem moody and not interested in anything apart from selling you tat! Richard steers you towards the best appose to the best proffit making for them. Best thing is that they normally have tried it on the field.

They're good for tubes, Kriega kit and spares, but I have to hold my breath and shut my eyes to reach the staircase first bleh

I also advert my eyes on the way up to the excellent spares & accessories dept wink.

I've used Albion for over 30 years (they were in Exmouth before) & the family run business still provides great service.

I guess not every customer is going to be satified, thats life!

But on the whole they serve us well, over the last few years Gary and steve have been good to us and are now a deffo supporter of the TRF, yes this may be for commercial reasons but either way our members win.

The workshop will be expensive cos they got big overheads, but you have a choice, i use Albion for bits and Justin gibbs for repairs, (cos he's cheaper and man does he know his stuff)!

Richard up in parts is a hero, and a long time servant of our game, any one spot him doing the exeter in a car?

As someone fairly new to the area, I've been very please with the service at Albion.

Workshop have twice blown out my front pipe at very reasonable price, also tried to sort out my TM forks (unfortunately couldn't, as didn't have right tools) but didn't try and bodge it.

Richard in parts has been brill, love going up there if in the area for a browse and a chat.

Well done guys

Orange heaven!! Always been helpful and have what I needed in stock. Problem is, it always costs me double what I expect to pay when I go in there, not because of the prices, but all the little extras and shiny things that are so hard to resist!!

Chris.

Chris, you shouldn't even be on this forum. You haven't been on your bike greenlaning for that long, you've developed webbed feet winkwinkbiggrin

I was not going to say anything but as you bring it up...

Richard in parts can't do enough to help ya, Kev is a great mechanic who I trust.

But after spending over £20,000 on Two new bikes,

I went back for some tyre levers, handlebars and stuff and is told by Gary that 10% discount is not offered and if I don't like it I can always go somewhere else.

find myself getting just a bit p****d off.

when to CMS saved £100 on same items and got 10% without asking...Cheers CMS and where is there advert link ??

Every business needs to be aware of the permanent damage that can be done to their reputation by one member of staff p*****g off a customer - damage that can be far further reaching and much longer lasting since the advent of the internet.

Personally, I've only used them once (for a tube and picking up a new side stand for a friends KTM) and I got the discount and very friendly service.

Cheers,

John

Whenever I goto CMS, they rarely give me TRF discount and when they do, they always 'um and ah' about it

I agree Mark, it's usually a case of "well I'll see how much I can give but it won't be 10% on that"  and I generally feel unwelcome. Quite the reverse at Albion.

Wont use cms ever again after being shouted at in front of a shop full of customers for daring to mention the d word. That's the logic was that dtrf don't spend enough money or show loyalty, so I put the 280 quid pair of boots back on the shelf, went across town and brought the same boots for 160 quid. Just my opinion

Now we've moved on to CMS I find myself in more familiar waters as I've had a love/hate relationship with them for years.

'Love' because, when I worked nearby they were very convenient. 'Hate' because I too have always felt unwelcome by the surly staff who serve you, no, just take your money. Discount? Ha-ha-ha! Which, considering how much they price their goods at, should be automatic and generous.

An example: a friend, literally on the eve of riding to Germany, broke a rear light he'd just fitted to his bike and needed a replacement. He'd bought it online so didn't have time to source another from there so I suggested CMS. We went there and he was delighted to find exactly the same light. Yet all delight evaporated when he saw they were asking FOUR TIMES the price he'd paid online. OK, I know they'll have higher overheads and I do like to support local shops when I can but that was just having a laugh.

Cheers,

John

Maybe Gary was avin a bad day when he spoke to me but the friend I was with thought him out of order as well....

And a few weeks before when I was buying the £20,000 worth of bikes off him he said don't worry about a thing we will look after you.

What a joke!

If he was avin a bad day maybe a sorry wouldn't go amiss.

Before this happened I heard a lot of people slag Albion off and I dismissed it.

But I can only comment from experience.

Having used both shops before but not regularly i cannot see where the problem is. If your experience was not good then why go back there. Having got Husky i have no choice but go to eblag or husky sport direct. There will be a big mark up on any thing purchased in a shop for an example most Dive shops mark up by 400% !!!

Tried CMS once, wanted to spend money but needed advice, and I ended up driving off with a still full wallet.
Richard at Albion is extremely helpful and 10% is a given, but only if you have your valid TRF card. If they sell it, I buy it from them.

We told him to check the cards, wouldn't want a ex member going in trying to pull the wool, that would kinda defeat the object smilesmile

im

from CMS. my old man grew up buying parts and bling bits day in day out from them, so when me, a little bit curious last year and tried to experiment with my cbr 400 and wanted to jack it up with a different shock i politly asked that tall white haired grumpy git behind the counter to see if he had one lying around on some of the old bikes that had been sat there for years he said yes i will have a look tommorow. come back in the morning, went back in the morning and asked if they had one all i got was "havent looked yet" ok i said and bought some gloves and toddled off home, later in the afternoon i asked my lady to pop down and ask as hes usualy more polite to her, she said he still hadnt looked but he will try and look when it quitens down int he evening and to come down before they shut.. so again i asked her to pop down (we litrally lived over the bridge from them min walk away so she never cared to go for me as id usualy be busy messing around with something) she came back saying that tall white haired fellow who shall not be named but we all know who i meen said for me to go down, infront of 6-7 people he had a go at me saying i was rude and

.was aload of boll8x.... and then said im banned, i was a good customer and always bought stuff off them and always had a nice little chat, i dont know if it was his time of the month and the river was running red or something but i was gobsmacked. Yet lisa still goes and can get odds n sods for me (and they know its for me) and they still ask how im doing and what bike iv got and ask about the wedding.... for days i held myself back to set the place on-roses because of his rudeness. that computer chimp and that adam are nice guys , but that OTHER GUY is a right royal wan...

well i feel better after all that now. off to the bikes !!!

And quite right too, luckily my new card came before my plastics arrived the other week, that's the half my membership fee saved already!
