You are right about the nutters but conversely I do get extremely frustrated about others that drive along single carriageway A-roads in a national speed limit area at 30mph. Sorry but does my head in. Safe than sorry maybe but it frustrates a lot of people into carelessness.
Normally the more mature driver in Rovers or Civics/Micras etc. As my RoSPA instructor told me many moons ago - "If it safe to travel at the current speed limit - do it!".

I used to drive between Exeter and Falmouth down the A30 several nights per week. The fog across Bodmin Moor was pretty scary at times yet there was always a steady stream of suicidal car drivers belting past me.
Coming back one night, in a real pea-souper, in the dip passing Jamaica Inn, I saw just in time a caravan side-on across the inside lane. No person nor car was anywhere to be seen. I pulled in to the lay-by just past it and called the police.
So, don't drive faster than your stopping distance.

Ah yes but you forget, they have 46 air bags, anti lock brakes, ASR, DSR, a NCAP 5* rating, a crumple zone, shock absorbing bumpers, a collapsing steering colum, Side impact protection, foward and rearward proximity detection, on board cameras, seat beat pretensioners, sat nav telling them where to go, a chuffing great sign flashing above the raod saying FOG and some even have anti crash radar which will apply the brakes if they don't.........so they will be OK.....won't they.....as its everyone elses job to protect them......
Remove the air bag in the steering wheel and replace it with a 2ft long spike which will go straight through thier face in the event of a shunt - that may make em think a bit more.
its like grumpy old men on here, yep wheely im with you does my head in too, hate going over totnes / south hams / torbay area to work, seems if its a 30 limit it means you have to travel at 20, a 40 means 30, a 60 means 30

I actually like the look of cars with their front fogs on.
Yes, I know it's illegal to use them unless it's foggy but come on, they look pretty.
..and can't be much different to the super bright LED DRL's that cars have on them now.
They must be the biggest waste of time & money though 'cus how many times a year do you geniunly need to use front fogs, or gain any benifit?

Now rear fogs - people should be pulled over and kicked in the nuts if they are on when not needed.

Yep, I go along with that Kev. I do Newton to Totnes and back every day. Not to bad at 7am, but during the day it's full of "politicaly correct crinklies" driving along at the speeds you mention.
My other gripe is people driving around when it's not foggy with their front "muppet" lights on. Fog lights are just that. It's at it's worst when dark and raining and the muppet brigade think the big glow on the dash is their seat warmer. GGrrrrrrrr. No thought for the oncoming traffic blinded by the fog lights.
I guess most people don't understand why they are there and how the work.
