Both boyz down :-(

Well my lads are not in a fit state right now - biking in the mud has taken its toll on them both. Today saw Troy enter his 3rd race - this time at Whiteway. When we left this morning all was dry, but as soon as we got there the heavens opened and it rained all day until about 3pm!! Track started pretty grippy and first race wasn't too bad. I was a helper-martial for the 9-13s group. Quite a few offs and I had my work cut out picking them up again. By the second race the track was very soggy and very rutty. On troys first lap he got to the top of the climb but then came off on the switchback. Got started and came off just by the top tree - and winded himself quite badly. Carried on a fell off 10 secs later bending his pinky right back. St Johns gave him a lift back to the car whilst I had to get his bike down Deer Leap . They think it could be broken, but it's currently strapped and he has some movement in it - so we'll review in the morning.

Then saw a missed call on my phone from Ben (my eldest) and 2 minutes later from his mum. Called and found out they are in A+E as Ben came off whilst doing few lanes today. He was coming down the lane that takes you into Yealmpton, near the bottom there's a sharp right hander and it's a bit rocky and washed out. He had one of those unwanted moments where you blip the throttle and caused him to go way out of control and not really sure what he then hit. He landed heavily on his back and when he got up was very dazed and didn't know where he was. Unusually for him he was out alone so had to recompose himself and ride home - where his mum has taken him to hospital. Suspected concussion, sore neck and back and unusually a black eye that he has no idea of how that happened.

So there we have it. Not a very good day for the boys - but nothing too serious for either. As for me, glad I wasn't riding this weekend!!!!!!

Good luck and speedy recovery boyz.

 Love Dad x

Back home now and nothing too serious. Although I feel like a train has hit me, I Can only eat fluids as it's too sore to swallow solid food. Neck is very sore and I can't move my head down. Doctor at A+E gave me all the checks for concussion and for possible fractures. And all seemed well, although he said I could of fractured the bottom of my spine but I would need about 10 X-rays to find out. And he was 80% sure that I handn't. My random black eye is suspected from foliage as I hit a hedge on the left hand side.

Anyways thanks for concerns guys and dad ! Got tomorrow off work to try and recover.

Oh and I had my gopro running too, so will check out my footage. It may be 'spine tingling' !!

Well they only did 2 of the 3 race sessions in the end. I think it was much for protection of the course as the riders.

Hopefully they'll be riding real soon........................

Personally I am unsure why Troy fell off, nor what the fuss was about Whiteway being difficult (pic from yesterdays circuit) :

biggrin smile biggrin

glad I wasnt riding that.

and I've never spend so much time cleaning mud - thick sticky mud!!!!

Boyz seem Ok today, Troy playing on his finger just a little - but we know why.............. its back to school day!!!!!! (I wondered why the sun was shining)

Glad to hear that your lads are on the mend Mark. Horrible feeling when your kids are injured, at whatever age.
