Novice friendly bike wanted

I'm looking for a bike for a mate who hasn't ridden for several years & not really off tarmac at all.

4 stroke 250 electric start for £1500.

What's out there?

Shack, I've told him about your Raid & he's thinking about it but wants to see what £5-600 more could get him.

Thanks for the heads up, he is welcome to come and check it out, I think you need to see a bike (any bike not just mine) in the flesh and get a feel for it.
Mine would leave him enough in his budget for a nice set of fancy pants etc.

The thing about older simple bikes is proven behaviour, ironed out niggles and depth of knowledge gained by the great unwashed, also no tears at the regular lay downs as folks carry on to learn the ropes.

Exciting times, whatever he ends up with.
