You really did get inspired, then Doug.  They really are fast.  The difference between the fast ones and the unbelievably fast ones can be seen beside the marshals' post at Esses 2.  The ones who keep the throttle open up over that blind bend are the UF ones.smile

Awaiting for a qoute to have some made using my enduro hubs likely to be pricey will be worth it though.

dont put a 160 tyre on a 4.25 rim it will pinch the tyre and mess up the handleing

160 tyre will be fine on the newer 2008 swingarms might have a slight rubbing isse on the <2004 or older swing arms i run a 5rim with a 160

Yeap, the front would fit as the wr and te have the same front suspension, but this front is damaged !!! The rear will not fit as the sprocket mounting is to thick and if you machine it down would make it to weak to use. Spoke to the man today and can see no reason getting the wheels made up just got to make sure tyre fits inside the swingarm correctly.

Also found out today that the 2 smoke with the fueling prob has the wrong carb slide !!! So the right one is on order. Fingers crossed this fixes it.

Assuming you were to run a 17" wheel with the same tyre as mine or thinner (mines a 150 and I can't imagine you would go wider than that) then why don't we drop your rear out and 'hold' my new wheel up in there?

That'll prove that it would clear won't it?

As It's not fitted I could pop it round after work tomorrow if you want - Gissus a ring on my work phone tomorrow if you want.....

if u get a 5inch wide rim a 160 will rub chain, get a 4.25inch and 160 fits niceley and no rubbing

The 160 on the 5" looks just right Brian. Perfect. It'd work on the 4 1/4, but it's way too pinched. Having the cut part of the tread curl way over to where it's vertical with the rim is not good. I'd be leary of real lean angles in the wet with the 160 on a 4.25. A 150 on the 4 1/4 would be good and actually work better than a 160.

leaned both over in the garage and the 4.25 with the 160 has half the tire contact...

4.25"-4.50" rim=150 to 155 tire
5.00" rim=160 to 165 tire(+ a few very special SM specific 170 slicks)
5.50" rim=170 to 180 tire
6.00" rim=190 to 200 tire

I still say its fine. It squeezes the tyre walls in and rounds the top of the tyre more this I find makes it more snappy to lean, I have had a 160 on a 4.25 rim and it was terrible, but different tyres act different and the one iv got on there now fits on fine, with plenty of tyre contact. But I am looking for a 5 inch Cush drived rear hub as the fatter the better is still a true fact for me anyway

For sprinting on my soon to be SM i have been informed that 4.25 rim with 150-155 tyre is the way forward as anything bigger will rob power from the engine.
