No more modifications to cars - Another pointless EU directive - please read and sign the petition

PETITION:   You may have recently seen headlines re EU moves to introduce a new 'Roadworthiness' Directive - i.e. 'MoT testing', which if implemented could outlaw any 'modifications' on Classic cars. - All our old cars could be particularly badly affected, given the number of our cars which are no longer 'as built'. e.g. Rack & Pinion steering, Power Assisted steering, change of engine, changes of gearbox, Alloy wheels, safety upgrades etc.  I URGE YOU TO SIGN THE "E-PETITION" below, {You only need to 'click' on the link, and then complete your contact details.  This will generate an email to you, - where you confirm your support for the petition} :-

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/37784

This has popped up on various websites/forums and appears that the EU want to cause a stir.  The Germans already have this and it causes problems when you wish to upgrade your car - even for safety reasons.  If you like to see historic vehicles, and don't want to see them driven off the road by EU bureaucrats, please sign this petition against a new pointless and punitive law:

 Bikes will be next.

Thanks

Dan

This already has the kit car community massively concerned.

It even effects the new BMW's as they have a microchip in the brake pads, so if you fit aftermarket ones your car won't start, which has put me off getting a new one for work next month.noevileyeevileyeevileye

Yes, but I got it from behind a paywall because I had read it in a newspaper so I'd rather not.  Your source is free so well done...... wink
