X2 wink - been discussing having one made with Mr FIX it (he knows who he is) from solid rather than box section - also looking at Stainless......

I'll let you know how it goes/much....

If you mind me asking, why do you need one?

Do they break, crack/fail in some way?

Yep, its KTM cheese ally and has inserts (and on mine 2 steel bolts threaded direct into the ally) and over time the inserts come loose/threads go. The inserts if left get that bad they can widen out the box section so bad the subframe snaps (I think jacks did). Most of mine I have now removed the inserts, drilled right through and bolted -but it is not pretty and makes it time consuming/fiddly to take the plastics off.

Being a fat bastard the extra few KG of a soild ally or even steel one does not bother me a bit and 'Mr magic' seemed to think he could make one, so one day when he has time and I can be without the bike for a bit I want to take my subframe down as a pattern for him and see if he can make a 'solid' on as opposed to the Cheesey stock one.

If it works as well as the stand it will be brill wink

the fixing holes on the subframe split/crack due to tightness/impact forces

Why dont you cut out the crap bits and weld in decent solid ally drill it and fit helicoils for the bolts.

I could Nige but think that it would be no less time consuming than making a new one.
