Whatever, the Jimney is a fun car that your boy is going to have a lot of fun in.

 Don't doubt you could tip it far easier than a Corsa etc - but you gotta remember not drive it like one wink how long had she had it and what did she have before? - they dont take well to the tyre pressures being low either no
I belive her when she says she wasn't going fast - cause its just not possible to do so in one biggrin

Had a SJ 410 years ago and thought that was good - the Jimny is even better smile ace little motor - its for the lad as insurance ain't bad on it for him.

I seem to recall from some years back that these tipped over when cornering at relatively slow speed.  Did I dream this or does it relate to summit else?

 I think that was the old SJ, not the Jimney.

A friend of mine tipped hers over a few years ago. It was a banger & with the help of a few passers by put it back on it's wheels & drove it around for ages after biggrin

 SJ's but it was all bollocks - its a short tall 4x4 and if you drove one like a **** yes you could roll it......bit like saying that a bike could fall over if you didn't put your feet down when you stop.....common sence - anyone remember that ????disbeliefno

I did roll an MG Midget - and I don't ever recall seeing a warning about them smile saw lots of crap about the SJ's and despite many attempts I never did get that one upside down wink

Watch the last 2 mins of this ace little things - i used to trial my little SJ and would frequently embarrass landy drivers wink it was so short and light made it fantastic and able to 'fit' in real tight spots, it had real a short breakover angles also.

I rented a Jimny while on holiday in Crete once and was very, very impressed with it. While we didn't deliberately off road it we did come across some road works in the mountains that necessitated our driving over a long stretch of deep, soft, rutted gravel that would have been a serious challenge to a 'normal' car but it didn't miss a beat. Having driven Land Rovers for years I was able to draw some objective comparisons and seriously considered buying a Jimny when we got home as it would be far more economical but, in the real world, just as capable as my Discovery. What stopped me, however, was that it was just a bit too small and not great for longer distances or motorways but a great car nonetheless.

 No idea mate, it was years ago but it didn't put her off, probably just gave her a healthy respect for driving a 'less stable' car.

That looks very nice JT.

My mrs is half interested in getting a small 4x4 for the country back roads she uses.
I've been trying to tempt her towards a Suzuki or maybe a Rav4.
She thinks yours sons car looks very tidy.wink

I must admit that due to lack of use (thanks to the British summer) I am feeling tempted to move on.
Maybe get a smaller van and another bike.

But we've put so much effort into my baby I won't sell her on a whim.

2 years, 30,000 miles on, with 7 days a week use and never once missing a beat through floods, Ice, snow and across fields with his trials bike on the back sadly he decided it was time to replace his much loved Jimny

 

So today we did a cracking deal on this one owner, 20K 54 plate one biggrin yep 20K miles from new! - I actually think he has only done it as the Gas gas being blue looked OK on the back of the old one - but his new Beta is red wink

I have looked at loads over the years (had my 1st SJ back in the 80's) and if it not for the plate you would think it was no more than 2 years old. been kept in a garage in London just in case of snow....the diffs are still clean shiney black paint and the chassis is clean as a whistle. We really wanted the best pre 05 we could find as after that they moved to the electric transfer box and we like simple levers smile The old fella we got it from was a legend and used to ride trials back in the 60's and 70's so we had a great time 'doing a deal' - he now does car trials, in fact he is up in North Devon today doing one.

For my boy a Jimny is just perfect, cheap insurance, tough as old boots, cheap to fix, not very quick wink he can strap his trials bike on the back and go off to events and its a bit different to the norm for a first car (Corsa, Clio, fiesta etc).

Not knocking LR - Im a huge fan, have a freelander on the drive that we have had for 10 years, used to have a V8 Hi Cap for work wink  - just saying the Jimny can 'suprise' biggrin

Looks a great little car, very capable too! Found the same as you, looked at putting my lad on the landy insurance but was too expensive although I managed to insure if fully comp for £113 with no NCB. Age has its benefits.... smile
