MOT - Paignton Area

I just found out my KTM is slightly out of mot (oops sorry). Need it done ASAP. Now from past memory I remember several Paignton garages were crap with our enduro styled rod registered bikes. But I do remember a few saying Western Garage was pretty good - and have an understanding of these dirt machines. Is this still the case - as just want a simple mot without any hassle (know a few places in Plymouth, but don't live there now!) Cheers

John Tremlett at Ashburton can be trusted.

Don't trust PGH in Torquay.

I know Roger Neale is currently working in Paignton, but don't know if he has an MOT certificate, but he can be trusted.

If the holds together long enough to get to Newton Abbot, give Torbay M/Cs a try in Queen Street. They are Honda dealers but have always done "trail friendly" MOTs on al of my bikes.

John T http://localmotcentre.co.uk/john_t_newton_motorcycles-d12588.html Can't rate him high enough, fast, friendly and very reasonable.

Would give the guy on the ring road at Paignton a miss, he has a rolling road for bikes and it is very difficult to pass anything. My Harley was mint and he still failed it on slightly braking unevenly :( cost me £100+ for floating disc to get it through, I should have just taken it somewhere else, but you live and learn.

when I had the XR I used the place behind the tinting place in preston (opposite the Vauxhall dealership)

then there is the garage at the bottom of church street.

I am sure I read on hear a while back there is a place up on Long Road who is trail friendly..unless this is the same place as Schoe00 is refering to and I have it wrong?

I always use Western Garage for both bikes and cars and find them very nice people. Their usual bike tester seems to have left but the business has the same owner so they are just as relaxed and approachable. For example, I dropped in last month as a seat belt had jammed one of my car's sliding doors. They spent a good 15 minutes getting it open but wouldn't take anything for the work - compare that to other garages who 'find' work that needs doing. So, if you're in Paignton, Western Garage is the place to go.

Cheers,

John

Went to Russell's recommended Totnes Auto Services. Met Kev the owner and a keen KTM rider. He'd never ridden a 200 so he enjoyed a quick blast of mine up the road - he liked it except thought it a bit "feisty" when power kicked in.

MOT all passed. Try not to forget next year (well the garage do send reminders apparently - so this might help).

Highly recommended down to earth, friendly garage - for your car or bike.
