I bought mine from Trago where they're known as 'Chinese made axes'. When the handles snap-off the first time they're used, the remaining heads make excellent wedges. The handles burn well too so it's win win

I bought an axe from Trago and as you say the handle snapped first use.
I was directed to the bin to pick up another one, but on hearing a member of staff say 'fifth one today' I declined and demanded a refund. Spotty sales oik directed me to his supervisor, who introduced me to his manager, whose boss, eventually, backed down and gave me my refund when I offered to play the LOUD UNHAPPY CUSTOMER on my way out of the store on my way to the trading standards office and the press.
The sight of axe heads with slivers of metal cracked off them had made my mind up. Splinters is an occupational hazard when chopping wood, but the prospect of sharp metal shards flying about spontaneously did not appeal. One wedge becomes two, or more, so if you feel lucky you know where to shop.
