What a Freezing and Cold and Wet Start to Troy's 2013 Season.................

SWOR's first MX race of the year yesterday. This time last year it was a sunny, dry and cold day at Littlehempstone. This year we were at Landrake - the south west's premier Mx track - and when we arrived at 7:15am confuseit was grim. 30+ mph winds, rain and chill factor around zero C !!!

Unbelieveably 217 riders booked in for the day (against 240 pre paid). The practice session for the kids (9-13) didnt go too bad as the track was still nicely sealed and the big-boyz hadnt broken it up too much. But by race 1 it was a soggy, sticky wet mud-fest. I was a "roaming marshall" for the kids race (helping them upright and getting them going) and it was non-stop for me. Around 1/3 of riders (adults as well as kids) left after the first race as the conditions were yuk. But the rain had stopped and the high wind did dry the track up enough for ruts and lines to form. So Troy hung around and completed race 2 as well. When he finished this he said it was the best ride he'd ever had. His group was 18 riders and he finished 6th both times - good effort as there were some quick little monkies out there. He was very greatful we'd also fitted 2 brand new Michelin Starcross's to his KX.

Me I was froze by the time we got home and washed things off (8pm).

Had it not have been Mothers Day I'd have come to spectate and help, but given your report (weather wise) looks like i had a lucky reprieve. Well done to Troy though, cracking effort!!

Good grief Mark, there's enough mud on his bike to double it's weight! Well done to Troy, at least the landings look soft.
