Ktm 200 exc flywheel weight wanted, WHY.

Dont do it!!!!

Mr Gibbs told me it was a bad idea on these. They dont have the strongest cranks in the world and adding extra weight to it increases the chances of it snapping quite a lot !! I had this confirmed by another KTM mechanic/guru.

Flywheel weights dont work wardy. Should of stuck to the 4 stroke if you cant handle it ;)

Mmm the opposite to what I have been told by at least two top level racers ?.

I might just need to give it more time, but it just seemed to break traction easily on steep climbs.

Still got the 4 t Jack, when are you getting a brake light fitted to the WR, your gonna cause an accident soon

change the rear sprocket or exhaust i dident notice a difrence with the flywheel weght off so took it off and sold it

Might be worth experimenting with the power-valve setting (I don't know off-hand which way but just try it one way then the other). Loosen the locking bolt first.

 

 

 

 

 

Thats under an inspection cover on the cylinder, just make a note where the marks are before experimenting :)

The "EGS" auto-lube model comes standard with a weight fitted, so its obviously not a problem for the crank.

 

 

The engine still spins up very quickly though so it doesn't drastically change the engine's basic characteristics.

 

Its a crackin little bike but not the most tractable!

If these pictures are recent looks like you have water getting into the stator area !!!

As far as I know - the EGS engine is in quite a lower state of tune than the current EXCs. I did have an older EGS and was nothing like my mental current bike. So perhaps the flywheel weight is more suited to this autolube model.

Yes.... that was why it was apart.

 

Not my bike, but fortunately no damage under the flywheel.

I remember talking to someone who's name I forget (cos I'm rubbish like that ) up at the dirt bike show a few years ago and he had done Romaniacs twice and roof of Africa all on a 200 exc and swore by the fitting of a flywheel weight and Gnarly front pipe reckoned it was like riding a trials bike with attitude
