CCM 604 or 644?

ive had a 03 644 since new, good solid engine, torquey, pulls tike a tractor, only done about 6k miles, early days the paper base gasket to the barrel leaked oil , found this was a common fault ,poor specification by someone, i had to have the suzuki copper one fitted, fine since ,fitted after market exhaust and a larger main jet, sounds good, fork seals once, used for lanes for about 4 years, now keep the super moto wheels on for popping to town etc.good on the twisty bits.

CCM 604 644?

Rotex or Suzuki? Ive been thinking about getting one of these bikes for a while now, but which one? Anyone out there have a preference, perhaps owned one or both. A benchmark for comparison could be an XR650R or G650X as Ive done many a mile on both of those.

Im looking for a duel sport bike to ride some lanes on and also use as a daily run-around, fit some luggage to it, maybe take a pillion occasionally.

I always thought the CCM644 had a DR650 engine in it but recenetly I learnt that it's actually the Suzuki Freewind (XF650) engine, which is based on the DR650 engine.
Instead of the DR650's single BST40 carb the CCM has twin Mikuni BSR32's.
There are probably other differences as well because the rated power at the crank is 53hp vs 43hp for the DR.

I think the 604 was the choice of the hillclimbers with massive gains in tuning to be had .

Yer Lost already told me that the 604 had great tuning potential and that the 644 was out of the box what you got, I'm not much of a machnic and am looking more for low maintinance reliability. Still I guess it will come down to what turns up at the time and how much it is. Importantly no one has anything bad to say about either.
