Really Basic Scrap metal question

it is now illegal for scrap companies to pay cash any company paying cash would be shut down, the law on this is very enforced due too the amount of stolen metals we hear on the news

Hi all, I have No idea about scrap metal, it's worth, where to take it etc.

I've got an OEM bandit 1200 that weighs a fair bit but no body has shown any interest in buying it, is it worth anything as scrap and where would I take it?

In fact I have a garage full of old and broken bits from various bikes so worth just filling the trailer?

so Questions are:

What's the minimum worth taking, where does it go, do I just rock up?

scrap merchants dont give cash anymore only cheques or paid direct to a bank account, this is so there is a paper trail to stop the theft of metals
Beware there is a minuium amount before thay pay dont expect anything below £10

Thanks for that Mark, kinda know where it is.

If they only pay a min of a tenner is a fat Bandit exhaust likely to cross over that minimum amount (tis rather unwieldey) and got a window to check out your old Orange exhaust this week?

I scrap lots of aluminium, it's worth double the money if you separate out the Ali from the steel and plastic, they will check to see if its done, and if you don't mess the boys around they eventually will trust you.

Not sure where you are but if you go to Woods in Crediton they will pay you in cash but they will want photo ID. You get more if you seperate each kind of metal.

You will be surprised at what you get. The good thing with Woods is, you can spend the money on some more junk to take home.

People wouldnt bother scrapping if you didnt get cash so most places still do it.

Are you saying you want to scrap a whole bandit ?!
