Where have all the Bees gone?

Not so many bees around as there used to be, except on these allotments.

Guy in the row of houses behind mine has a couple of hives and a few weeks ago I saw him introducing bees (they did a divert and swarmed in a bush next to my fence).

Since then I haven't seen them at all, my lupins only get visited by bumblebees.cry

Weirdly putting an outside boiler in last week I was next to a bush swarming with them, so I think they are all in Black Torrington

Talking to someone yesterday who had just come back from Lanzarote.  When she flew out the week before they were held in the plane for 30 minutes upon arrival due to a swarm of bees outside the plane door.  They had to wait for the bees to fly away...

Too true. My neighbour was delighted when a swarm arrived in her garden because she had an empty hive all ready for them. Apparently bees can find their way back to a hive provided it is more than a mile, or less than a metre, from where they usually live. Anything in between confuses them. It took her a week to move them a little at a time to the other side of the garden.
