WR 450 Mods

Hi

Seen on thumper talk a few mods for wr450's such as the grey wire mod and exhaust mod.  Has anyone tried them, if so did it make much difference?

Many thanks for any help.

Thanks.  Where did you find out about them and how to undertake them???  I've found a lot on line but would be interested to hear of your experience.

Many thanks

Before buying my bike I read about it on Thumper Talk.  The previous owner of my bike was the owner of the dealership I bought it from, so he did the following free mods:

- Removed throttle stop pin near carb.
- Removed exhaust baffle, but kept it so I could insert it if needed (needs a loop of wire to hold it in).
- Opened up the airbox - mine had embossed sections on it so you could see which areas to cut away if you wanted.
- He also added a "fast jet" kit to the carb, this was a dealer part and I was provided with the packaging for the kit but this isn't a free mod.

When I got the bike I did the grey wire mod as described on TT.  This definitely made the bike a bit snappier.  I didn't cut the wire though, I traced it to the connector block and disconnected it there, and blanked off the block to prevent water ingress.  This way I could easily restore it if I wanted to.

I have no idea if these are the same on the 450, I would guess you already have more power than you need! Hope that helps.

Think I'm going to start with the throttle stop pin removal,  the exhaust baffle removal and the grey wire mod - like you will trace it to the connector block.  See how that fares.  Thanks for your help.
