Pulse 125 and Reiju 125 any good?

I'm on the look out for a cheap 125 green laner (dual purpose for me and sons licence)  and saw an old post where Harty had bought a pulse 125 for £400. Harty have you still got it? Was it any good?

Due to law changes a good 125 is getting hard to find and I've seen some real shockers 2nd hand at dealers for silly money. I'v been thinking of a new Reiju marathon AC 125 any knowledge on these? £2199 new and only 95Kg in weight.

Twas ****e. Everything corroded and the plastics were basically like road bike plastics and cracked/split easily

Speak to JT about the Reiju, as he bought one for his lad

Harty, I'd be interested to hear what JT thinks. DT's starting to go for silly money.

Part of me thinks stuff the 125 he can get one himself when he's ready and I'll chop my road bike in for the KTM690 enduro - are they really that good on the lanes?

Rieju was good, 100% reliable - he used it on the lanes (so did I wink) good value little bike - and service parts easy to get and cheap.

He had one of these (well an older version)

Avoid both of them. Get a kwaka 125 or dt...Chinese are shocking and won't hold up.

They are both enduro designs made for road. Reiju would be better choice but so would a Dt ;)

JT thanks for that. Really useful to know from someone whose owned one. Did he have the air cooled or the water cooled?

Hedgehog motorcycles in Barnstaple sells them and a quick look over it I thought it looked pretty good. The Air cooled uses a Chinese motor and the water cooled the Yamaha engine off the W125R - the air cooled is £1k cheaper. I sometimes think there something to be said for going very light and have always been impressed the 125 Yamaha trials bikes muddy wheels used to use.  Saw a trials rider absolutely demolish a section once on a 50cc trials bike. Like a mountain bike with an engine.

Current deal chucks a free rack in and you can get a set of super-moto wheels as well for the run to work.

Is the Tango any good off road or is that really a commuter?

Watercooled Minerelli/Yamaha motor in his....

No experiance of the Tango - but from write ups I think its more a 'town bike'.

Oooohh! very nice but that would be spoiling him (and me). This is the one I'm thinking of.

Not sure what he's pointing at, maybe it's where she fell off after being silly enough to go two up, off road on a 125 in what looks like Ugg boots!

I quite enjoy this. Gearing needs a 53 tooth rear, bumbles along

I did OK on a Pete novice ride. Would not claim it is enduro quality but it's OK. You can get a 150cc upgrade and possibly a 200cc (from the Piaggio Beverly)

Front tyre is Michelin T63, rear a cat print "Golden Boy". With a 17" rear I should get a Trelleborg Army

Have seen the youtube trip to Mongolia on one?  POKFyBuD5q4

Yes, I like the look of one of these do you find it green lanes well?

Seems well speced, does it resist the rust and grime of the lanes?

What tyres do you use

Cheers

Well after a lot of umming and arrghing and a big con-flab with junior we bit the bullet and bought this.

2k on the clock 2 1/2 years old and only 1 careful owner (the dealer!) and £1900 delivered and fully serviced etc.

All the reviews say that people have a stack of fun on these so here's hoping. If it works out we'll buy another and then Spain, France wherever here we come. I love the £17 road tax and £50 fully comp insurance already. Also parts are pretty cheap compared to the VFR.

Finally, thanks for all the very helpful advice I could have bought 5 other bikes!
