hi i have down loaded the app for this to my phone you get one free tile down load which is enough map for say plymouth i have recorded a couple tracks and made a couple routes obviously after i paid £14.99 for 1000 credits i found out that a tile is only 7.1 credits so ive have down loaded 12 tiles enough maps for the distence i go
moral of the storie is dont buy the big bundle of credits you dont need to
I use Viewranger and like it a lot, I bought the whole of Devon & Cornwall OS 1:50,000 Landranger maps for only something like £9 if I remember correctly. Got a Motorola Defy+ waterproof smart phone to go with it and so far it's been really good.
Plotting routes is also easy, you can manually plot the lane you want to ride, switch to autoroute click the entry point of your next lane and it automatically works out the most direct road route click back to manual plot for the lane and so on. Editing a route is easy too as you just drag the route to where you want it
yes its very good im still trying to learn how to use it properly im out tomorrow following a route ive made and am a bit unsure how it works but im sure ill work it out

This is how I use mine, which I guess most of this you know already.
I assume you have downloaded all the map tiles that you had bought onto your phone?
First of all to get your route on your phone you need to go to the organizer tab and press synchronize, you will need a mobile signal to do this, it will download your route. Still in the organizer press the routes tab and your route should be listed there. To save the battery on the phone select aeroplane mode, switch on the satellite, go to your settings and set the screen timeout to never and you are ready to go.
Get used to pressing the middle round button at the bottom of the screen as this will centre you on the map (you won't need to do this when riding as it auto scrolls) so if you zoom in or pan just press this and it will re-centre you.
One tip, top right button for the menu select settings, press display and select auto rotate map. This makes it easier to follow the route as it always heading upwards.

I have this app too and it's great, like said in other posts very easy to map routes. I mapped one this weekend, then checked lanes with google maps and found some lanes with no through road for vehicles signs, so i've edited the route with ease. Recording your route while out riding is good too, although the GPS soaks up battery life. I have yet to test navigation on my own routes but I'm sure it will by fine. Worth the purchase and tiles are good value too.
From what I know there's only the full version. The Android version is free whereas the Apple one you have to pay for, everyone knows Apple buyers love spending their money
i know you can enter coordinates or place name postcode i used the follow route part of the gps today little bit tricky to get used to but i got the hang of it im really happy with the app why spend hundreds of pounds on gps units when you can down load somthing for next to nothing its cost me about 7 or 8 pound of the the map tiles
Steve, Viewranger will import GPX files but as I'm running crappy windows 8 I can't run GpsBabel to convert the overlays to a GPX so can't honestly answer.
If anyone has the overlay as a GPX I'd be grateful if they could pm me.

Including your TRF membership number as proof of membership and ask John nicely then he will send you the GPX version of the legal lanes overlay which is only available to current paid up TRF members.
Hopefully John will send me over the latest GPX overlay sometime soon.
In the meantime I've had a go at converting the CSV overlay into a GPX and then tried to import it into Viewranger without success yet!!
Will give Viewranger help desk a go to see if they can help.
