I had a std Trailblazer back in the early 80's, I'd had a 67 Baracudda and a 69 T25 Trophy before (I like my unit singles) and this was the best of the bunch the engine was stronger as the con rod issues had been sorted and the dreadful 67 gearbox problems were resolved, for the most part!
At the time I used to drink in a pub out in the sticks that was a watering hole for British Bike riders. The landladies son was into Japanese bikes and used to give us grief about his bikes being better (no doubt he was right in the end). He'd recently bought a brand new Suzuki GSX250TSS the very latest high tech offering in the 1/4Ltr market. One summers evening I'm riding the Trailblazer to the pub and I can see him not far ahead with a 1 mile straight coming up, I'm thinking I've not got a hope of keeping up with him but I give the little 250 everything anyway! I don't know who was more amazed, him or me, but the little Triumph catches him up quite easily rolls past him and onward to the Pub...his house!

the only good triumph single is a twin with a dodgy plug! I loved my 49 Trophy special preunit ridgid only sold it a couple of years ago not enough space, had it 30 years all but 4 months.

Have owned old Triumph's with 1, 2 & 3 cylinders and enjoyed them all, sure they all needed a lot of looking after but there was always a real sense of pride in owning one for me. The singles were very enjoyable when all you could ride was a 250.
