Yep Its known as a bacon slicer, Removed more sides of boots and bits of ankle bone than anything else. As far as I know they were banned from racing years ago, horrible things

seems like a pretty good idea actually........putting chain lube & brake pads in close proximity of each other.biggrin

Is this an ATK? If that is what this is then I recall (in the late 1980s?) they devised a clever swing arm which maintained constant chain tension. Frame/engine mounting the brake may have reduced unsprung weight but what if the chain broke?

Cheers,

John

From the brake line setup it looks as if the rear brake pedal works both that sprocket brake and branches off and runs down the far side of swingarm indicating to the fact there may be a rear brake aswell.

More interesting to see how that chain angle works !

From what I remember it was ATK who used them.  The chain and swinging arm had a pantograph type relationship so the chain had a more constant tension over the range of S arm movement. That was until the guide rollers gave out and you suddenly had a lot more chain than usual to deal with.

All,

Yes it was an ATK 406, and unlike the one in Grouty's vid - yes Jack you are right it also had a rear disc.....

Indeed, a thing of great beauty so I hope it sold to someone who appreciates what a rare beast it is.

Those oval wheels must make the ride a bit bouncy though smile
