Has anyone used or know of otter vale motor services in Honiton. They have a pick up there I like the look of and wondered what reputation they have? Anyone heard of them?

Cheers.

Steve.

Yes, they are east of Honiton, they are ok, but they have grown somewhat and have some older cars which are not so good.

I bought a MK5 Golf from them and they where easy to deal with and courteous. I dont know if its the same owners but it was a father and son business when I bought the car.

The ford ranger, not to pricey as I can claim the VAT back, and a RAC warranty (whether it is worth the paper it is written on!) . Though feed back has not been goodcry

Not shooting it down but at 4.5 plus vat i would expect it to be immaculate, looks like a large graze on drivers side near the rear light cluster, i spent ages looking for a truck before i found the navara ive had for the past 18 months, must of looked at 30 plus trucks before i found the perfect one but then i am very fussy !!

I looked at alot of rangers focusing on the wildtrak 3.0l version and the worst thing on fords was the rust, everyone i looked at was riddled with it and most of those were around 07-10 reg ! You can read loads of conflicting reports online about double cabs and reliability but in the end it all comes down to how its looked after and how its been serviced :)

Bloody minefield Jack, as everyone has a different opinion. I do like the navara as well, which engine do you have? as the d22 is meant to have a few problems and don't think I can afford the newer modelcry

Cheers

Steve

I have 06 D40, the d22 2.5 had problems with the crankshaft design, basically its a Renault/nissan engine which was designed with a maximum power out put of around 100 bhp... and during the early 00's when all people wanted more power and car like luxuries they upped the power to 133 bhp, more than the bottom end could cope with, they stretched conrod bolts which made the crank run out of balance and wear the crank shells ultimately ending up in a conrod snapping and being thrown out through the block!

There is a fix for this with upgraded bolts and shells etc which costs about 700 plus fitting and makes the engine as reliable as it should be !

The d40 which i have is no better with engine design, there is a flaw with the timing chains basically they changed from a duplex to a simplex timing chain on the d40, think of it a bit like a bikes 0 ring chain compared to non o ring we all know what wears faster! Im getting mine changed in december but its around 1200 quid to do it ! but i plan on keeping mine for a long time so im doing it for piece of mind and hopefully to reduce bigger bills in the future if engine goes bang! love my navara though it goes like stink had it remapped for 200 bhp up from 174 standard and it still returns 34mpg constantly, im well impressed with it
