Car for Exeter Trial

Workmate has asked me if I want to have a go at the Exeter trial in a car with him so we are now on the hunt for a suitable old banger (RWD) to prep.

Low budget of course no so if you here/have anything then let me know.....

Blinding - thanks Ray, though we need to check regs for tyres once we find a car - a skoda is high on our list currently

If you see us in Ottery again I suggest you run quick - she has a bad leg at the mo so you stand a small chance of survival biggrin

The Triple, the mcc mag usually has a selection of reasonably priced cars, you'll have to join to enter so why not do it now? Otherwise how about a marlin!

If you want rear wheel drive and cheap I'd look at 1999 bmw 316 compact with the 1.9 8valve cam chain motor.

I am on a committee with several MCC officials and organisers. Have asked them who has what available locally.

It's worth getting a copy of the 2015 Exeter Trial entrants and finishers to see which cars made it around jt?

I am no longer a member so don't get details any longer.

A quick note to say thanks to all who have been in touch and sorry if I have not responded direct to you all but have been laid up with 'Epic' man flu all week Anyway I have had brilliant response and some great Ideas on cars we had not considered (The X90 was one and are cheap).

So have at least 3 cars on the shortlist now and one in paticular that sounds a cracker - just need to arrange to go and have a look.....

Thanks again for all your help.

There was an old Marlin outside Quicks farm for a long time and myself and a couple others on this forum were friends of the Marlin manufacturer, now sadly no longer with us. His wife still runs the company at Crediton and I can ask if they have anything second hand but I haven't seen anything on the premises. They may know of someone selling though. You could try one of the latest Marlins but I think you may have a problem on Simms.   http://www.marlinsportscars.co.uk/news/211/
