Excellent bike, a tad heavy for a modern bike, but still great on trails and even on the roads as it's got a wide ratio 6 speed box. The only real downside is the add ons are expensive and not really available in this country. Mostly have to get from the US. Steve Harcus had one as well as TTR, Ollie Cooke bought mine off me

Not had one but have noted those I knew (6) who have didn't keep them - inc the 3 mentioned above. Not a criticism of the bike at all as I (I don't have a clue what they are like) just an observation, and if it were me thinking of getting one I'd be interested to know why? smile

I only flogged mine for a katoom 690 Enduro for travelling with, as it could carry the kit and still ride at 80

Still got mine - superb bit of kit. Great on road and lanes biggrin

Water cooled, fuel injection, 6-speed box (essential in my view for a proper trail bike), and excellent suspension. Although not the lightest trail bike around they are a quality Yamaha build and seem to carry their weight well if you know what I mean...

Olly still has his and isn't looking to move it on to the best of my knowledge.

I first rode a WRR along with Jerry Atterick at Torotrail and we were both mightily impressed.

There is a non-USA forum for the WRR that I now run having taken it over from Mark - see http://wr250r-x-euro.activeboard.com/p/recent/ - but it is pretty quiet. Thing is that one-model forums are usual only busy when lots of owners have problems.

The Yanks love them and a lot are used for "adventure" riding kitted out with long range fuel tanks and the like. There is a huge thread here - http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=329337&page=3321

To be honest they don't need after-market kit other than perhaps a sump guard and the usual trail gear like handguards. Lowering links available although you can take quite a bit out of the ride height using tweaks to the standard rear suspension. All readily available in the UK.

Thanks for all the replies and info theres always alot fo knowledge on here. The KTM has gone to a mate as it was simply too tall for what I wanted it for although a really nice bike. The CRF230 is a cracking bike but I really looking for something with a bit more top end and the drum brake would drive me mad. I sometimes end up riding back from quite a distance on the road so a reasonable top end is a must.

Ollie has my old WRR, he bought it because it was newer with a lot less miles than Hartys. I only sold it as I was offered a mates WR450, a completely different animal. I now have a KTM 250! I change my bikes fairly often (6 in 7 years) so the fact I didn't keep mine long is true about all of them. The WRR is a fine trail bike.
