Shock Sox Thingies

The bike I've just bought comes with neoprene shock sox on the front USD forks.  I've never had them before but seen plenty around.  What do people think of these?  Last night when I put my bike away these were wet and just wondered what might be happening to the fork legs underneath.

IMHO take them off.
When **** gets in, it is usually the very fine stuff, there is no means of escape.
At least this can get washed off if exposed to the elements.
If it was a better option then, hopefully, the manufacturers would have fitted them.

If its for the husky, have never had any real trouble with the fork seals, just replace the wipers more often if it worries you.

Bought a rear one for pds shock bearing on ktm. Big mistake as it harbours damp and causes premature failure. I think they may be ok for on-ride protection but then still need cleaning inside after - and leaving inside out to dry/air off. So with all that ball ache it's better to not bother.

I'm with Dan on this. I've had them on my WR250 for years; they keep the crap out the fork seals AND help protect the chrome surface from getting 'dinged' which would further damage the seals.

I'm now on the second set as the first ones had got pretty cut up. I replaced them last time I serviced the forks and they had done a great job of keeping the forks protected.

Well, I cut them off earlier this evening (they were the type where you have to drop the forks to get them on/off and I couldn't be bothered with that) and am relieved to say the forks looked on good shape.  Thanks again for the replies
