Pick-Up Trucks!

looks like a decent alternative to owning a van and a little bit more funbiggrin

Any good for transporting bikes? Any recommendations eg makes, models etc? Looking around the £5000-6000.

Thanks

Crock

From what I've seen they can be difficult to load/unload bikes as the beds are so high.
Also with many you can't flip the tail up when there's a bike on board which can upset plods if the number plate is obscured by the tailgate, this is mainly just pickups with crew cabs though.

Other than that they are way cooler than vans (vans other than T4's that is biggrin )

Ran a L200 for 3 years, loading bike not a problem if your tall,

used folding ramp, was tempted @ times to ride bike up ramp,

but never didno.

Easier if parked on an incline.

Bike only fitted with tail gate down.

Now have Merc Vito Sport 3 ltr V6 (220bhp)biggrin

Wheely runs a transit and seems happy...

Ran a Hi Lux and a Mazda B2500 for about 10 years carting trials bikes around. Both 4x4 single cabs so space no problem. Loading was always by riding up a scaffold plank ( and hoping I stopped before I hit the cab when wet and muddy) Changed to a Primastar van 2 years ago and never regretted it as changing in a dry van was far preferable to changing by a pickup in snow or rain in January no   Downside to van was lack of grip in muddy fields but price worth paying.

Good luck with your choice.

Van is better, for the reasons said

Secure, nobody knows what you have inside and therefore nobody follows you home

Bike doesn't get covered in road salt in winter

Warm and dry to get changed in

Had both and would always have a van now
