mutters moor sidmouth

mutters moor sidmouth?

i was wondering if the above is rideable (i suspect not)?

i was walking dog around peak hill on sunday and came across 4 or 5 riding around mutters moor and coming out on peak hill road?

they appeared to be road legal riders (lights and number plates is all i have to go on)

were they riding legal or just chancing it?

cheers

Yeap, illegal riding. Bloody nuts really seeing there are at least 12 legal lanes within a 3k radius !!! furiousfuriousfurious

Is it illegal riding?

I thought the lanes around Mutters Moor were DGTRF Claim Lanes, in which case, doesn't this mean that they were originally

recorded on historic maps as Roads, later incorrectly recorded with lower rights, but the original motorised right over them still exists?

Someone will put me right I' sure.

I've never ridden them though.

Does not matter about claim lanes, they are still ride at your own risk. Just look at any 1:50000 or 1:25000 current map and you will see most of the byways on the moor are either bridleways or footpaths.

A lot of police attention and damage to our reputation will result in anyone going 'off piste' up there.
