The kind of attitude we need

Posted on Facebook by Mark Mason on the Trail Riding on UK Green Lanes page, we need more MP's with this attitude.

I suspect that I will get shouted down for this being contrarian, but still I would like to understand how "motorbike sports" and the use of "public rights of way" maybe connected in the ministers mind as it is in the letter above? i guess the tourism dollar to Peak District economy rules. Why shouldn't it? Walkers will argue they contribute more than bikers, quid pro quo as legal folk are prone to say, why would you not ban motorbike sports.

the issue is Public rights of Way.

I think if any of us had written a letter to our MP, for their take on our hobby this would probably be as good a response any of us would expect, especially as this MP is in the Peak District were the anti's have been causing major problems. If you've seen any of the MP's replies on the National Forum there was a reply from one MP was along the lines' I really don't think I can support the riding of scrambler motorbikes on footpaths and bridleways'.

I'm far more concerned by this response than the letter above.

Concerned ??? I think most folk agree riding of scrambler motorbikes on footpaths and bridleways should not be supported?

Protecting public rights of way, regardless of mode of transport, is the real issue.  Once they are lost n transformed to footpaths etc they are lost.  Using words like "Motorbike sports"  n  "hobbies" dilute the importance of the issue and make it more emotive.  Just an opinion.
