1986 Honda XR250R front disc calliper

Hi

just wondering if there is an alternative to the standard original calliper? I imagine there are any number of Honda and non-Honda callipers that might fit. Or am I tied to finding an original (there don't seem to be that many about and what is there is either pricey or shagged!)

cheers

Matt

Check out CMS holland and compare years and part numbers to see how many years forward/back you can look.

Or alternatively try a nissin caliper you might have to make an adapter for the fork mounting but they are well worth the effort.

I may be right in thinking the CRM shares the same calliper

If so I may be able to help you

How much are they worth?

Hi Pete, I imagine they are the same as for the CRM, if it is and you have one how much would you like for it?

Maybe we can get out and do a few lanes sometime I haven't been out for ages!!

Doing a very quick search by looking up the pads for an 86 XR 250 shows they also fit:-

Honda CR125R 84-86 (front)
Honda CR250R 84-86 (front)
Honda XR250R Pro Link 84-87 (front)
Honda XL350R 84-85 (front)
Honda XR350R 84-85 (front)
Honda CR500R 84-86 (front)
Honda XR500R Pro Link 83-84 (front)
Honda XL600R 83-87 (front)
Honda XR600R 85-87 (front)
Honda ATC250R 85-86 (front or rear)
Honda ATC350X 85 (front)
Honda TRX250R Fourtrax 86-89 (rear)

So good chance these all share the same caliper......

do you have a pic of the caliper, and the pad it takes? I have a couple of nissin calipers i could compare em too

Are the 80's calipers different to those on the 90's and 00's bikes?
