I went,
I watched,
I was disappointed,
Not what I thought it was going to be like,
If he was invited again,
I would stay home..
Mike..

what were you expecting ?

Forestcat, I reckon if that film had been a mainstream TV programme, it would create a lot of interest in trail riding.
However thats just my opinion and I may be a bit biased. (-:

My thoughts on what we were shown, ok the first one was just an advert for a self sufficient trail bike adventure in the Pyrenees but boy did it make me want to do it.

The second film was very entertaining but left me wondering what Austin and Ross were hoping to achieve.

It seemed to be a blend of history and humour with bikes as a means of linking locations.

Not sure how this format might work on mainstream TV.

Still had a good time Noel but I was hoping to see places we could visit on our bikes not ones you need special permission for!! and also in Devon, the Fort was in that foreign land over the bridge :)

That's why they haven't got it on mainstream  TV

In Austins view the problem is that mainstream TV is risk averse and reluctant to try a new formula and its also apparently better if they think the concept was 'their idea' .....

He's hoping that a bit more marketing effort by him and Ross will have someone interested in a pilot show.
I guess they have enough footage to re edit and rebalance the components.

I think we were the 'crash test dummy' trial audience but its not obvious what message we sent as a group or if Austin was even looking for feedback.....

I didn't go due to work commitments so have no idea about what went down, but...

Are we in danger of over thinking this?

Austin is a film maker and entertainer.  I imagine those who attended watched a film and were entertained.

Am I wrong?

Yep your right Tim I was entertained. We're just airing our thoughts on the night in a democratic way. :)

Austin is a former history teacher at a private school who took up adventuring on a motorcycle.

He gave up the safe way of life and has since tried to make a living out of motorcycle adventuring.

He is a very entertaining speaker ( yet didn't really talk all that much last Tuesday )

Im not aware that he would claim to be a film maker and believe that he relies on others to make the films.
He is buzzing with entertaining ideas though.

I think I was hoping to draw out any negative reaction to Austin's visit in an attempt to learn how we might approach future events.

As you say Tim , probably overthinking.

I'll get me coat then ......
