Hi Harry
Klx and klr are 4stroke.
Kmx and Kdx are 2 stroke. On water cooled 2 strokes the kipps power valve is mounted through the head to the cylinder exhaust port. Alot of people bend them tilting the head whilst removing it.

Klx 125 is 4stroke and the same as a Drz 125 I believe.

Do you know what model and year your looking at?

think they have smaller diameter wheels than your normal bike , so getting tyres might be an issue... i could be wrong though

As nige said, if its 2t it will be a KDX or KMX, it could also be a KX the motocrosser

Ive no experience of the 125 kawasakis but would have thought all 3 will do the job, but are all fairly different from each other. How suitable they are will depend on your friends experience. If they have no dirt bike or 2t experience they would be better sticking to a 4t to be honest

Any chance of a pic?

Also make sure its road legal! if its the KX it may well never have been registered
