The forum is a great source of information plus some very knowledgeable members. I think the number of views speaks for itself.

I really enjoy reading the ride reports as I haven't been out myself in many months hence the lack of any sensible posts from me disbelief

How do we vote - are you gonna add a poll Doug?

I agree with Brian.

Since I've been sidelined over the past couple of seasons this is the nearest I now get to trailing.

Together with the TTR forum it's now my only opportunity of being jealous. blankstare

Hi,

I visit the forum most days although I don't post very often. I find I can get lots of info from current posts as well as searching the older ones and like to see what people are up to. As has been said, there are lots of knowledge folk about on here.

For the most part its friendly and is a shame when healthy debate occasionally gets a bit personal, I don't see the need for that to be honest, but other may think differently which is up to them;).

But yes, I would miss it if it disappeared, I did used to look on the TRF forum as well but when that closed and went onto facebook (I think?) I haven't looked at it since, as I can't be bothered with more mainstream social media.

Anyway, just my opinion/thoughts,

keep up the good work Doug!

I would personally think it would be a shame to close it, and cant se how that would help Dtrf in any way, I think Devon forum is no different than any other one you always have the few members that use it and then you have the majority that do not participate, but like to look in and see what happens smile i have made a lot of friends through this forum , purchased / sold trail bikes and have had some very good and friendly advice over the years and vote to Keep it going

I say keep it.
The way the FB pages are displayed is awful. Posts get shoved down a list and never seen again. I like the way this forum works. All posts are easy to find. Even the very first ones.
I have been a member of this forum since it first started (all thanks to TJ), and I too have made a great deal of friends.

As they say ..... it ain't broke, so don't fix it

Yes - I would certainly miss it.

please bear in mind that not everyone comments each and every time they check in to view what's going on...

Why would this forum close?

To keep in step with the national TRF where debate is no longer possible? Closing this forum would be a stupid mistake, but after seeing the national TRF make exactly that mistake I am wondering why the question is being asked?

The number of views is impressive and as a form of targeted advertising it is second to none.

This forum has played no small part in growing and sustaining Devon TRF over the years by providing a medium which permits interactivity, debate, advertising of goods and runs, and I am sure many new members have been attracted by seeing how much fun people are having and wanting a share if the action.

As an interactive tool it is superb for organizing runs/events/works parties for clearing lanes and as a resource for picking peoples brains over technical problems it is brilliant.

I am, thanks to this forum, considering rejoining the TRF after learning that the TRF Trail magazine has been resurrected, but should the forum close I would not have any reason to become involved again.

I am not prepared to use Facebook, nor am I prepared to go to a monthly meeting to put up information about a run I am going to go on so that people could contact me by phone after they read about it in a newsletter days or weeks later as we did before the forum started.

I have not been green laning in a long while (too many other things on at present) but check this forum at least twice a day to keep up with things. I used to attend the meetings years ago at the welcome stranger but am afraid haven't got to the current venue.

Enjoy the run reports very much and as a site it is a very useful tool for keeping in touch with people I have ridden with in the past. Would be my first port of call when I do get back out there.

My tuppence worth, in my opinion it serves a real good purpose and should remain as is.

Definitely keep it please. I look most days and frequently post. I consider it to be an invaluable asset for the DGTRF for many reasons as noted by others.

We MUST NOT go the way of the national TRF !!

Seriously though it should stay. I don't green lane on motorised 2-wheels these days, but this is still a great forum and place for info. Unfortunately any and all forums are subject to debates that some take very personally & can get a little out of hand - sometimes without intent. Not a lot will ever change on that front - apart from moderation where appropriate.

Can't really see anyone on here, that's not a troll or ramblier-spy, wanting this forum to close.

Some very good thoughts here, pity I had to bring up an important point to prove that's ok just to browse but we need to keep adding up to date posts of TRF issues however big or small, there are lots of casual visitors who like a new read so come on get posting.
To add to my thoughts the amount of pending new users has dropped away considerably since December and I think most look at recent post and do not see much new and go elsewhere.

I would hugely miss this forum if it were to be shut down.

When it first got started someone put me in touch with someone called Digest, who sends me a daily email with all the forum highlights.

I would have to be very distracted to not open the email and see what is being discussed.

As I only ride rarely, the forum allows me to feel as if I am involved with people who are riding and it keeps me in touch with the Devon lanes as well as members and ex members who post here. It makes me feel part of something.

I know there are some who are put off by threads where fact and opinion get blurred but I personally enjoy well thought through and polite exchanges (-:
And sometimes agreement can ocurr ..........

I apologise for not posting more than I do. I used to write loads ( mostly fluffy descriptive stuff as I would have little recall of the names of any of the lanes or places ridden ) but I eventually ran out of words.

If I promise to get a bit more involved can we keep the forum ? pretty pleese

April 18 is higher than April & May 17. The lower line is 90,000 hits. Maybe someone look at the data to stimulate forum users

keep it open for goodness sake- closing the forum is the beginning of the end. Not all of us out here are facebookers .

Its a great and easy first point of contact for anyone looking to join.
