Was anyone else out around the Hartland peninsula today?

Because of the way this goes on, I'm not expecting anyone to say yes, but:

Someone rode through Upcott (near Welcombe) around 3.30 this afternoon. They rode along a stretch of private road (not marked private, but it is), down a section of my neighbour's private drive, then along a Bridleway through private woods.

Not great.

I was out riding the lanes today, so people saw me go out around 10.00 and come home around 5.00. In the meantime, someone rode the woods by my house. How many does 2 and 2 make?

Even my wife, who should know better, asked if my group had come past the house today.

I hope it wasn't anyone from the TRF who came by but if it was, or anyone knows who it was, I'd really appreciate it if it didn't keep happening.

Cheers

Col

Seems we have a group of rogues frequently causing trouble now, seen a Facebook post not long ago, they claimed that holsworthy motor club have them permission to ride a bridleway

Yep not very nice I know! plus its hard to convince the general public that we don't all follow the same behaviour

I have a similar problem convincing people who help with parish paths when they see motor bikes on FP's + BW's

Whats the entrance to the BW like? I take it there is no gate?

Probably the only way to stop or at least elevate 90% of illegal traffic is to contact PRoW who could at a push insert a horse gate on the entrance

If all else fails shoot em biggrinbiggrin

Educate people to whip out their smart phone and take a photo wink if your not riding you quite often hear an approaching engine in time for a quick whip out photo experience

No gate at the top where it leaves my neighbours drive, there is a gate at the bottom where it joins a 'whitey'.

It is nearly 2 months now though with no further occurrence, so I reckon it was probably just a 'one-off'

Yes it could be a one off occurrence or someone just riding it occasionally when they think their luck is in wink

Very rare exception to find permission granted to ride a Bridleway

The only one I know is when John puts the enduro on and the riders cross a BW, the junction has to be monitored and manned for potential public traffic wanting access + erecting signs is essential, all worked with PRoW warden on board. (thats how I understood the operation a few years back)

Lets hope the rogue riders see sense smile

Thanks for the post tis interesting and informative
