I bought 'The Tour of Britain 2005' which was a map of the route taken by that cycle race. The CD included an old version of Memory Map but the provided serial number enabled me to upgrade to the latest version.

So, I'd expect that any of the map packages would be the same: buy a map and we'll give you MM free. The MM website lists quite a few for less than £20 with one, 'The Caravan and Camping Guide', costing a mere £5

see here: http://shop.memory-map.co.uk/acatalog/publications.html#aMMP_2dAA_2dSITES_2d2009

It even says: "Add to your existing Memory-Map collection or use the Memory-Map software included".

MM is also available as a free 'trial' download lasting for 30 days and to upgrade needs a key from a map purchase. Again, I'd expect one of the cheap map packages to provide this. http://www.memory-map.co.uk/downloads.htm

Then all you'd need would be maps of the area you want to ride in ...

Cheers,

John

I met a fellow rider out on a days ride out who had memory map. He told me at the time he only paid a fiver for it. Seemed to work great.

He had it running on what looked like a tomtom, he could switch between tomtom software and memory maps. I've been searching for ages and no where can I find a device that does this.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to something like this please, all I can find is memory map devices that cost £300 + ?

Thanks.

As long as the maps are in the correct format you will be fine!

Thanks Brian
Looks like some of my maps are to old, but Ive a few bits that work for now.

Next thing is to chop up a charger and fit it all to the bike.

I think you'll find 2004 and older memory map OS areas don't work with the latest version ( part of the OS licensing agreement ) especially if you got them "online". They do work with earlier versions of the software however.
