had a letter this morning to say that my insurance underwriters no longer cover motorcycles so i am looking for a cheap quote so anyone got any recomendations??

i currently have insurance(til 4th aug) that allows me to ride other peoples bikes(with their permission obviously) and it is only £120 for my transalp(600cc) and the xr.

so looking for that sort of deal, ie multi bike!

Check your email Paul wink

I use eBike coz they are very convenient (and cheap!) as you can add or change bikes online with no admin fee plus you can print the insurance certificate there and then with the changes on.

If anyone else wants to get an eBike quote then let me know as I have some £20 off vouchers I can email on to you biggrin

Brian

Brian,

I will do shortly, as I too use eBike - £107 for 2 biked fully-comp. inc. riding other bikes.

Are these vouchers only for new policies, or for renewals as well?

Thanks,

Alex

Watch out for ebike insurance, bunch of sharks, check the policy wording VERY carefully you may not have got what you paid for, their fully comp insurance leaves a lot to be desired. like there is no third party cover to ride another bike and a few other exclusions as well

They made a ****up on my harley insurance, cert was sent out with wrong details and in the end I had to take out another policy to cover it, as they refused point blank to change the details,  and trying to get a refund is almost impossible

If you make a claim its unbelievable, you end up dealing with 5 or 6 different loss adjusting firms, insurance underwriters, accident assessors etc, and they supply your details to all the ambulance chasing solicitors under the sun, 6 weeks after the prang on my harley I am still getting two a week phoning up wanting to take my personal injury claim on

If you have a Gas Gas, ebike will not insure them, I had my bikes insured with them up until this year, when they told me they were no longer insuring gas gas vehicles, no explanation, so I went to Carole Nash, no problems with insuring any bike and cheaper than Ebike, they now insure all my bikes

Ebike insurance TOTAL rip off  NEVER EVER AGAIN

Carole Nash wonderful and you even get to converse with a human being who speaks proper english

Carole Nash recovered me & my AJS from France when a valve seat dropped.  Efficient service too.

Avira (formerly Norwich Union) do a form of rider policy which is based on the cost of the highest group machine, the others are basically free, up to five bikes. You are covered third party to ride other peoples machinery. A real person (with a brummie accent) will answer the phone. I have successfully claimed on my insurance from them.

I have heard horror stories about people trying to claim from ebike.
The certificate may satisfy a policeman that you are legal but could turn out to be otherwise worthless.

i was with aviva pete and i let it lapse by one day, i thought it ran out on 31st july but it ended on the 30th, (last year)
so when i rang to renew it they said it would have to be a fresh policy and that aviva no longer covered pillion passengers unless it was an existing policy/contract.

so if u are with aviva don't let it lapse!

Theres a lesson to be learnt from Gaschef. It's always a good idea to check who the underwriters are with any insurance. They are the people who decide if you are going to get paid or not. Most of the people we actually deal with are just brokers and have very little say after they have taken your money.

Thanks for the warning, I'll bear that in mind.
I already knew that no claims bonus has to be continuous and is lost if the policy lapses as described.

Ah, just checked, and No I Don't use eBike any more.

I now use Aviva through Dial Direct - although cheap for the two bikes, it does not appear to cover 3rd party for other bikes.

Well said, and i'm not the only one who has been caught unawares by ebike. I know of several other bikers who have not ended up with what they thought they paid for. Trying to get your money back is a nightmare, and the way the contract is worded on the website makes it impossible to try to reclaim money via the so called insurance available on most credit cards. The only chance you have is during the statuatory 14 day cooling off period after the sale, and trying to get this is problematical as well, as you cant get to talk to anyone, and finding the form on the website is near impossible

Compared with this for Aviva, have a quick look. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it all, just look at the n
