Look what UPS bought me!!

Horray .... I've been waiting for this since May! I received one last month but turned out to be for a 78 YZ not my77.  This was bought from Proform Racing, via Maico Only the uk agents. All excited I've just spent half and hour trying to get it to fit cry.  After a bit of lateral thinking I took the manifold off and attached it to the pipe before fitting, that got it mounted but the top mounting is still about 1" out of line and the stinger end is about 1/2" too long so it fouls the plastic monoshock shield disbelief.  I cant facing waiting another 3 months  to sent it back so I could cut the plastic or cut and weld the pipe, which would be the best solution as it would enable the pipe to fit without removing the manifold.

Trouble is Proform are the only people who make pipes for my bike so I dont have any choice.  Seems they live up to their iffy reputation.  On the positive side Maico Only have been pretty helpful.

The welding is reasonably neat and to be fair DG pipes look the same, but I'll paint it when Ive got it to fit properly which will improve things, the problem is the alignment, its made from about 6 parts and a bit more care would have had an excelllent result.

Ta dah !!!!!

Trimmed a quarter of an inch of the end of the stinger, sprayed it black with stove paint and adjusted the rubber hanging brackets (drilled an extra hole at the back) and used two Gasgas starter motor spacers to fill the gap at the front mount. Took off the manifold filled it up with hi temp silicone, slid it on the pipe, fitted a new manifold to barrel gasket and "bobs your uncle" (sorry Bob!). It just misses the plastic monoshock shroud and sounds great, so will have to wait until Sunday to give it a test.
