Tales of the National Parks

Hi All, I thought some of you guys might be interested in watching this TV documentary on 4 x 4 and trail bike use of green lanes in the Peak District this coming weekend. The documentary is part of a series called Tales From The National Parks and will be screened at 9pm on Sunday 30 October on BBC4.    Film-maker Richard Macer spent a year following the Peak Park Authority's rights of way team and was given behind the scenes access to help the public understand the challenges of managing a complex legal issue that arouses strong passions about the balance required to conserve and enhance the environment, while allowing people legal access to the countryside.

Cheers for "flagging" this up Russell.I remember reading about when they made this programme and I reckon it could well be a "must watch" for us all!

I will watch but I expect a GLEAM propaganda bullsh*t coup. In the interests of 'balanced' reporting they will air extremist views as if they are commonly held, nobody wants to make 'boring' specialist interest tv.
Green is trendy and the luddites will have a field day (sic).

As I think you well know Steve, the self styled Green Lane Environmental Action Movement are our arch enemies. Like the racist BNP they hide behind a PO box number whilst spreading their vile lies and under a guise of, (utterly flawed), reasoned argument attract idiots to their bigoted and selfish cause. These luddites want all vehicular use of green ways eradicated and are quite willing to stoop to misinformation at best and outright lies when they think people will swallow them.

See for yourself the depths they are prepared to plumb. I should add a health warning at this point. Following this link may be harmful to your blood pressure.

They trumpet the BBC 4 programme as something their readers (as if) will enjoy.

I just watch the online episode - very sad...

Also right at the end were some highlights for the next one.

Looks like some ramblers stand in the way of a biker and then one claims that he nearly ran her over - if he had he would probably have done the world a favour lol.
Having been on the receiving end of these actions many years ago (on the Ridgeway) I know first hand how silly the rambler can get, especially when they have a point to prove.
Just try to take it all with a pinch of salt if you watch it guys, the BBC aren't our friends so don't expect it to be balance program.
