Hi, random guestion but does any 1 have any quad knowledge?

Always fancied getting 1 but not sure what would be best suited as you see so many diffent shapes and size's.

I am 15.5 stone, want something mainly for the lanes but would like it to be quick enough for if using it on the roads. I would be the main user but would like to take my kids on the back from time to time around the roads

I'd have a budget of around £1600,  this is achievable but are the 1's in this range going to be good enough?

Any advice on the best sort to get in that budget would be a great help, not after a cheaply built 1, would rather get a older 1 thats build well than a new 1 with a dodgy name

Tigerman's brother runs a TGB 4 X 4. the 4X4 quad will go most places and one with reverse would be very useful on some of the lanes biggrinbiggrin or you might be there for some while.

On the last forest ride event day I was being followed by a guy on a Suzuki LTZ400, I couldn't loose him and I wasn't sparing the horses either!
Might be worth looking at those...

I have a tgb 550 blade short wheel base but double seat. I had a quadzilla before but that is not the quality quad the tgb is. The big problem with quads is getting them insured unless you can do it on a fleet policy. Honda, suzuki and yamaha do not make a 4x4 road legal quad but have kits fitted so they can be registered as agricultural vehicle. The beauty of the quadzilla, tgb ect is that they are road legal and easy to insure. We go green laning on the quads and believe me you need 4 wheel drive.

I used to have a little Suzuki 160 agricultural type quad. Automatic/clutchless 5 gears and a reverse. It was an absolute blast. It was 2 wheel drive but had a straight through rear axle and would go anywhere. It could climb slopes you couldn't stand up on, but you did have to lean right over the front to stop it tipping back. The main advantage of a smaller quad is that you can easily lift the front or rear up off the ground and shuffle it around, to get yourself out of a fix. I even managed to get it out of a 4 foot deep ditch after it ended up upside down. Not sure you could do that with some of these 400 plus monsters. I've never driven one green laning but would have thought a 250 would be plenty adequate and not too heavy to heave around when you get stuck.

 I know naff all about em (other than have seen TGB in action a few times wink) but holy moley that Green thing in the pics a few posts above looks like a bloody tank! - would not want to have to haul that out a hole ashamed
