Filling in your profile

Just wondering why some people don't put their name down in their profile confuse

What's to hide?

It makes me wonder too. Might be a very good reason but I can't think of one at the moment confuse

Indivdual preference I suppose but It can be a nuisance to me as I still receive Run Sheets giving the rider's Forum name yet, when I look them up in 'User Details' I find they like to remain anonymous.

But, as Pete suggests, there may well be spies among us cry

Cheers,

John

You'll find that since Feb 2010 users have had to have their name completed along with location before they get approved (which is why we get no Spam postings), so those without name/location are either users who registered between August 08 to Feb 2010, or who after being approved have chosen to remove their name/location.

This may change again after the weekend of 4th/5th Feb when a new TRF Members only area of the forum will come into effect.

What an excellent idea!

Might render the Yahoo forum redundant but for ease of use this wins hands down.

It may prod some into renewing membership when they find themselves constantly reminded they are missing out too.

Yeah the yahoo forum is a bind, once this is sorted i'll stick it on hold, best keep yahoo running in the back ground just in case, cos this active board does have its wobbly moments. And Yahoo does let us hold files!!

Thing is someone will still have to administer this forum, i.e. add new members and delete the non renewed ones.

This forum will hold files, you just need to pay for the $7.95 per month. This also then gives you a chat room, plus you can send every forum member just a message in one hit rather than individually. You get a 30 day free trial

From what I've seen at the few meetings I've been to, most of the attendees don't even own a PC or know what one is wink

Said it a million times before (OK, maybe not quite that many biggrin) but you can host your own forum on the DTRF webspace that does all of these things and more.  I even set up a test forum with files and everything but none of my test audience tried it cry

I also don't see what's wrong with this forum in terms of the facilities we have. Why pay for a chat section that'll just be a nightmare to moderate. This forum is very active at times so is almost like a live a chat.

 No not at all

simply trying to include a area for members where -

Ride outs can be offered along with run reports with a slightly relaxed style in content As it'll be just DTRF members only

Rights of way (ROW) issues can be discussed and acted on

Lane clearing Will be included just to keep members up to date on the latest developments

members of the DTRF have been requesting this for a while, something to keep members and reward their loyalty wink

Bugger i betta join before i'm excluded biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Apart from the fact that "who reads what" is controlled, and DTRFG won't sell your personal info for a bit of advertising. Now there's an idea........wink
