Standard BMW paint scheme.........that is shocking, looks in very good nick. Don't think I've seen another in those colours, much prefer the yellow/black.

I love airhead BMWs and I love GSs the most (even though my airhead is an RS) yet even I'd struggle with that colour. I do think the yellow and black 'bumble bee' scheme is the better of the two but that makes you question BMW's designer's recreational substances. Still, its cracking bike that I'd happily find room for. Enjoy.

Cheers,

John

Thanks all.

Oh yeah, I have the high front mud guard and I'll put that on soon. My first ride on a boxer twin was when I collected it, and what a great motorcycle (I'm getting on a bit). I had a KTM 950 adventure last year and I kept ridding that up to very illegal speeds, but the beemer will be a great bike to 'not break the law' on.

I like it Longmqn and I reckon those designers were big fans of Ermintrude on the Magic Roundabout Cool bike and a very collectable classic.

Some of the bikes and projects/restorations you have done and put on here have been fantastic - but I got to be honest, that is the worst and most ugly bike I have ever seen in my life.

You are going to have to create a miricle on this one.

GSs are Motorcycling Marmite and I like Marmite. True this serving looks as though it has a strawberry and blueberry compote poured over it but after licking that off you're left with delicious yeast extract beneath. It's still a thing of beauty to me.

Cheers,

John

It was designed by permed mullet lovers who rolled up the sleeves on their sports jackets so give the bike a break!

Good luck with the revamp Rob - bumble bee a great choice smile

Now, as an ex-owner to a new classic Beemer owner, could I recommend a couple of reference books? I just happen to have found these on my big tidy up:

Cycleworld on BMW.jpg

Cycle World on BMW, 1981-1986 (Brooklands Road Tests) (Brooklands Books Road Tests Series) [Illustrated] [Paperback]

Illustrated BMW Buyers Guide.jpg

Illustrated BMW Motorcycle Buyer's Guide (Illustrated Buyer's Guide) [Paperback] but my one is 1st Edition published 1990
