Cool Bike names

Ossamabinladens were very popular for a while but they didn't work well under water.  Had a problem with the seals apparently.

Anyone heard of Hodaka?

Made stuff like this in the 60's

I love the names they gave the bikes - This one is a Combat Wombat, they also made a Super Rat, Dirt Squirt, Road Toad and Thunderdog biggrin

Awsome, makes WR, EXC, DR, TTR all sound a bit sad methinks....smile

Gitane? Fantic? Caballero. I like Bultaco but have no idea if it is derived from a real word set. Hodako sounds cool. Ossa sounds better if spelt ossamissima. I'm waffling aren't I? Desmoduoro. Bellissima.

There were the two extremes the Munch Mammoth and the Heskith and the Itom which had holes drilled through the frame to make it even lighter

That's a bit harsh, Reiju aren't half bad!

Hodaka are very popular in the states and down under I think, great names,

I had a Honda Elsinore
Norton Jubilee
Bantam (why name a bike after a small fluffy chicken?!)
and we had an AJS 500 we called Noddy - cant remember why tho!

Names are much better than numbers and letters I think

MV Augusta was it who arrived at " Brutale " jo pienso Buenaventura would be more the thing in these days of moleskin suits.

There was a Velocette LE, 200cc, horizontally opposed, water cooled twin used by the plod in the 60-70's. This was called a Noddy Bike because the plod wasn't allowed to salute his superiors and "nodded" instead. It wasn't the official Velocette name though. wink
