A great days classic racing.

Myself and the Clatemister went to watch a few of the classic racers from this very forum today. It was at Harburton. What a cracking day. Best fiver I have spent in a long time !

A picture paints a thousand words, so that's enough from me.......................

Guess the owner of this marshals bike.

Kerry did rearly well on the bikes first outing.......

Look at him go.....................

This beasty belongs to the V twin funster............

Kerrys mount.................

And the Dan bike..............

A few of the dirty dozen..............breath in !

Vtwin funster, looking sharp.

and a cool dude !

your looking for the back three........they didn't finish at the back though !

VTwin

and again.

on a charge.

track side maintenance.

This was interesting...............if you like Harley's.

A great day, with graet people.

RE: A great days classic racing.

Twas a great day, managed to have a small off in race one, but a rather more impressive one in race 2 which wacked my ribs a good un. I believe the photos will be up soon! But at least I managed to stay on in race 3! I Didn't come last in any and managed to beat 666 in race 1 and 2 who plagued me at the last meeting!

Got to sort out my pipe tho, the new proform pipe I bought has narrowed the powerband and moved it up the rev range which makes the bike much harder and less enjoyable to ride so if I cant de-tune it, its going on ebay - expensive mistake!

Am now at home, had a roast, and one diclofenac with a 2 paracetamol chaser! - my ribs and me are feeling much better!

Dan

A great day ! Thanks to those that helped ...... Doug ! The best track marshal one could wish to have. Saved us loads of time, and the old boy got to ride his bike.
Kerry was impressive. First ever motocross, and in the unlimited class too. Not last either ! I think bike woes put him out of the last race, but the previous two were good.
Rob Drake (Snafu2) was on a borrowed 79 Maico 250. Again not last and going well. Kerry (Vtwin funster) on a guttless 1981 KLX250 was flying, slipping clutch and all.
Dan was being careful with his shoulder !!!.
All credit guy's
Good to see a bit of DTRF support on the sidelines as well.
So that's Sunday done. Just got Monday to go. Same line up of racing, just that a few of the DTRF guy's have other plans. So it leaves Snaf on the Maico all on his tod with the other nutters in the 250 twinshock class. Rain is forecast for tonight / Mon morning, so the going should be slippery to very slippery tomorrow. Yippee !
I wil see if I can steal some more pics from facebok to put on here tomorrow after we are done and packed up.

Here's the video footage from my helmet cam of twinshock 250 races. A lot of waiting at the start for race 1, so fast forward for a bit. The race was red flagged. Races 2 and 3 ran the full distance.

A massive thank you to the organisers and supporters. Special thanks to Grouty for his advice and KLX bits. I would not have made the race if it was not for Ian biggrin.

lol ive started a thread seems in the wrong place great day top vid craige so TRF folk or you need to do is stay on go as fast as you can ? unlike whiteway barton wear there is scary jumps berms and tones of grip these classic events have nil grip on grass no berms and a few natural jumps think of a slippery lane put it on this track and try it as fast as you can with other folk trying for the easy line most of the race your trying to get in a grove thats aiming you at the next corner, there ends up being plenty but getting in the best one makes life very interesting at times powering on up hill cross rutted on a off camber ? as said its very slippery to boot lol im never going to be in the first ten and like craige the other riders are fast and we are on trail bikes against mx bikes but on the day we can all hold our heads up dans YZ is a spirited beasty with a narrow power band work needed there and poss be a handfull so peeps unless you have done moto cross ? i could not go any faster lol and what you dont see beneath the head cam is a white knukle ride ??? brillant knackering ride oh and my big beast i loved it at times it was like steering a artic compared to my katoom but the grunt wooohoo thought ide stalled a couple of times mid corner bump bump bump ------------------bump bump lol top top day shame i ended up breaking down so one race completed plus one and half laps of the third race mmm lol lostbiggrin

I had a great day, thanks to your club Grouty for laying on such a good event. The burger bar even had gluten free butties (the Totnes effect I expect!) I was well off the pace not sure why but a combo of a cold, over damped rear shock and that sodding £200 ProForm pipe I bought from the states, as I said above its moved the power band right up the rev range and narrowed its range. While its fun in a straight line the suspension (and me ) cannot cope with a hit like that as you are coming out of a corner! I'm feeling a bit sore today, the usual aches and pains plus I must of hit my ribs on that first off, cos it feels like I've had a good kicking on my right side!

Off to pressure wash the bike and take off that B****y pipe!

Dan

Not too good Doug. The rain that fell overnight and Monday morning made the track almost un-ridable. There were those that gave it a go though. Solo's struggled within 20 metres of geting on the track. Rob Drake gave it a go on the 250 Maico, and was circulating without too much trouble. Some made it look easy (Tim Dallaway) and some didn't. The sidecar practice was less eventful, but some of them struggled to maintain a line on the long off camber straight.
With more rain forecast for 1pm it was decided by riders, officials and the landowner that it be cancelled. The rain arrived as predicted at 1.10pm ! Just walking the track to clear it up was difficult. I finally got home yesterday at about 5pm ..... very tired.
Thanks again to all those that helped, and to the riders. DTRF was again out in force
Same time, same place next year folks. The trial next time will have a separate route for trail bikes too.

 Glad to hear it!

Although it was virtually impossible in many places for me and my 300, I had a brilliant afternoon making an arse of myself.  Never been so pleased to come last in anything. Everyone was very friendly and encouraging, really nice relaxed atmosphere.

Thanks you for a great day out. Sadly other stuff got in the way and I didnt make it back for the racing.

Craig, did you get any photos of the trial in the end? I wished I'd had a camera when you parked your bike on end in a tree.

If you caught the sun on your neck ....... I caught it on the vast expanse of my forehead.

So I guess that makes me ........ a redhead then

Tim ..... Craig gave me his camera at the start. I did get a few shots on my section. A few more from the bog (section 10). I hope he gets them uploaded soon as the sight of a young-un doing the breast stroke in the bog is worth it. I have not laughed so much for years. Hats off to you,Craig and Rob for riding trail/enduro bikes in a trial designed for pukka ones. You will have your own route next time, and let's hope there is more trail bikes and DTRF rider support.

There are two AMCA classic / twinshock clubs in Devon. Dartmouth & District MCC (meets at the Pig & Whistle near Littlehempston on the last Thursday of the month about 8pm). Or there is the Devon Classic MCC in east Devon.

Forum sites to watch are mxtrax vintage , Circa74 , and if you are lucky enough, rich enough to own or want to race a BSA B50 the this is the forum for that. There are several others too.

There is also the AMCA. See HERE for classic fixtures.

Or just keep an eye on here for the local ones.
