KLX250 views

I'm waiting for the new Honda CRF250L to be launched in August but have noticed that nearly new KLX250s can be bought for about the £2.5k mark. Anyone had any experience of these as a green laner?

I want something I can use on the lanes but park at the train station in the week or nip into town on.

Cheers

Its restricted, couple of wires to cut i believe and/or a aftermarket ECU and it opens it up.

Many forums quote massive power improvement but still carries a load of weight.

Its basic but more of a 'off road' bike than the CRF250L is going to be i believe and the price of the CRF is going to be around £3.500 - £3.800 time its on the road.

Nearly bought one this time last year and there are some good deals around on last years model.

 Thumper talk :Derestrict for free

1. Disconnect ECU from the rubber base (A)
2. Locate the light green wire (<IMG SRC=" />
3. Cut the light green wire close to ECU
4. Add a piece of wire to the light green wire (that you just have cut) to the side that comes out of the ECU (E) long enough to reach (F)
5. Disconnect (F)
6. Connect the wire you added, in parallel to the black/red wire (G)
7. Connect again (F)
8. Isolate the light green wire that was coming to ECU (D)

This mod is switchable and by passes the rev limiter which feeds from the speedo.

Its built to rev to 10k but without the mods will only pull 7.5k max.

Some references also to the airbox restrictor which the EFI mapping will adjust to and of course an after market exhaust will save lbs and open it up even more. no re-jetting as there is no carb. Warranty will obviously be void.

Had a short tarmac ride on 1.  Felt a bit underpowered and over weight but pleasant.

Thanks for that. Just seen the weight is just over 130Kgs dry, not far of that of a DRZ400e!

Maybe I'll just have to look for an AJP PR4
