Propane butane gas bottles.....help!

Hi well seems autumnal so clearing me shed I came across varying sizes of empty red and blue gas bottles, now the question is where do you dispose of these in east Devon?

I'm sure there will be a sa that will know!

They have a value if they are the heavy gas bottles. It costs about £25 if you want a new one plus the price of the gas.

Someone may make you an offer!

Offer them on Freecycle. There are regular requests for them.

Cut a door and chimney hole in them weld some legs on and make it into a woodburner, Thats what I did worked a teat.

Might want to make sure all the gas is out first though, took me ages to climb back down that tree *sigh*

What a really good idea! The largest one I have is a 13kg half full or empty dependendiing on state of mind!! But surely the bottles are 'the property of' the gas company even tho I had to pay the initial deposit before gas is it mine or there's........?? Will they give me back my deposit if returned? Anyone out in DTRF land capable of the said task of gas bottle wood burner conversion? answers on a post card please..!!

Just make sure you cut the hole/ door where the brand name is

Hmm........the thing is I only have a two hacksaws and a soldering iron in the tool box........should this task be attempted

I don't think you will get your deposit back, it seems a bit of a one way ticket.

But, when I bought a new BBQ in the summer I needed a propane cylinder and to avoid paying the deposit I took back an old blue Calor cylinder that had been around for years and it saved me about £25. Make sure you are not going to need another cylinder at some time in the future before you dispose of them.

Not sure I like the idea of cutting into one
