Kawasaki KLX 250 2009

I've just sold my XR280 and thinking of getting a KLX250 2009.

Just wondered if anyone has one and rates them or other peoples views.

Cheers,

Adam.

I havent had one but looking at reviews and other forums I would imagine this would be a step down from the XR in off road (technical trails sorry) capabilities. It sounds an excellent bike for someone just getting into laning or someone who wants to plod along for miles, with good fuel range and reasonable comfort. It also makes a fairly good duel sports bike if you are planning more road work or shorter commutes in your agenda.
So it really comes down to what you want out of your bike? A TTR250 would be a more robust no-worry trail bike, a WR250R would also be a better option in my opinion (but probably more expensive) - and if you were looking for slightly more thrill (lightness, better suspension, power) then the WRF or KTMexc-F would be a few in this category.

+1 on what Wheely said.

I think the new KLX's are much more road biased now but could be made more trail worthy. WR250 R or F would be a better choice. Or maybe even one of the new bread such as the AJP?
here - I'm not sure you'll find any used though.

Nick at Cornish Trail Tours has one and apart from some hand guards and a bash plate it's standard. Nick's a tidy and accomplished rider/off road instructor and gets the bike easily up all the tricky Cornish climbs without bother. A good bike up there with WRR's for TTR money.

I've looked at the WR250 but finding a tidy one seems to be hard and the CRF230 are non existent. Ideally I'm looking for a 4t 250 mainly for trail use but with a bit of road use as well. I've been a member for 2 years but not been out on the XR that often so still class myself as a newbie. Any suggestions of what to get would be appreciated.
